MATCH-BOX HQLDER.

. Application filed September 8, 1926- are generallycontained in a match carrier shdably mounted in a cover, and the said holder will not-only preventthe box from being damaged; but includes means for automatically arranging the carrier to openposition when it is desired to move therefrom.

A further object of the invention is to provide a holder for match boxes that is neat in appearance, strong and durable, and con tains few movablepart-s in its constructlomwith the result that it will be possessed with maximum life.

Secured to the bottomfZ is one of the end convolutionsof a pair of spaced parallel upstanding coil springs 11 which are adapted to engage the bottom of the carrier for ejecting the same to open position as shown in Figure 2 when the socketed member 11 is released, but it will be obvious that the flexible member 8 retains the carrier in closed position and against the tension of the springs ll when the socketed member is operatively associated with the stud member 10. The flexible strip 8 is also secured to the wall 4 by thread as clearly shown in Figure 4 of the drawings.

In the modified form as shown in Figures 5 to 8 inclusive the body 1 of the match holder is somewhat similar to the body 1 of the form as shown in Figures l. to 4; in ihisire but it will be noted that body not only includes a bottom 2, and end walls 3 and 4, but front and rear walls 5 and 6 are provided. The match box A is disposed between the respective walls in the modified 6 form and a flexible covering 7' is also provided in this form and said covering has one end arranged about the upper-edge of the wall 4 and secured thereto by thread and the like which passes through parallel open-.

From the above description and disclosure 36 match box holder which forms the subject matter of the present. invention not only protects a box of matches from being damaged while being carried in the'pocket of a user, but when thesecuring means for. the i flexible cover is released, the coil springs will automatically elevate the match carrier tothe positions as illustrated in Figures 2 and 6 and so that a match maybe easily and v readily removed froin'the carrier.

40 It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

1. A match box holder of the character described comprising abody, including end walls, one of said end walls being of greater length than the other, guide means between said end walls, a match box interposed between said end walls and said guide means, said match box including a cover and a slidable match carrier therefor, a flexible strip covering the end walls and bottom with one end fixed to the upper portion of the long end wall, spring means between said bottom and the bottom of the carrier respectively for arranging said carrier to open position and said flexible strip being adapted to engage said carrier to retain the same against the tension of the spring in closed position, and fastening means for sai flexible strip which when unt'astened allows the spring means to eject the carrier to open position.

2. A match boxholdcr of the character described comprising a body which includes a bottom and endwalls, parallel strips also included in said body and having their ends disposed at right an les and connected to the end walls, an L-siaped portion formed on the upper end of one of said end walls, a flexible strip having one end interposed between the vertical portion of the L-shaped portion and the last mentioned end wall respectively and covering the bottom and other end wall respectively,and thence extending in substantially U-shapc formation, said body being adapted to receive a match box which includes acarricr slidably mounted within a cover, spring means between the bottom of the body and the bottom 'of the carrier respectively and being adapted to arrange the carrier to open position, and fastening means for saidflexible strip for securing the same over said carrier for retaining the latter closed and against the tension of the spring means.
