This invention relates to new and useful improvements in oiling devices, and particularly to oil cups for attachment to moving machine parts.
One object of the invent-ion is to provide a simple device of this character which can be manufactured at a comparatively low cost.
Another object is to provide a device of this character which is durable and eflicient in its operation, and which can be easlly regulated whereby to discharge different amounts of lubricant.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a vertical view through an oil cup made in accordance with the present invention, the discharge tube and cap thereof being shown in elevation.

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing 10 represents the body of the oil cup which has the externally threaded attaching nipple 11, in its lower end, and the removable threaded cap 12 on its upper end. Disposed vertically within the center of the cup, and having its lower end screwed into the interior of the said nipple, is a discharge tube 18. The upper end of the tube 13 is externally threaded to receive thereon the internally threaded cap 14. In the upper threaded end of the tube 13 there are formed the laterally directed openings 15, and in the cap 14 there are formed similarly shaped and numbered openings 16, which are adapted to register with the openings 15, when said cap is rotated on the tube.
In view of the fact that the cap 14 moves longitudinally of the tube, when rotated, it is necessary to form the openings 15 and 16 slightly elongated longitudinally of the tube, where by to permit proper and complete registration when the cap is in a certain position, and whereby the maximum opening will be produced tor escape of lubricant from the cup into the discharge tube. The upper portion of the cap 14 is provided with the op- 'posite flat faces 17, for engagement of a wrench, when it is necessary to rotate the cap for regulating the amount of lubricant spilled through the said openings, as the cup moves with the machine part. As an additional means of rotating the cap 14, the upper end is provided with a transverse groove 18 for the reception of the end of a screwdriver.
In the-operation of the device, as the ma chine part moves the oil in the cup is sloshed around to such an extentthat some of said oil will pass out through the registered openings 15 and 16, and through the discharge tube to the machine part. By rotating the cap 14 the openings can be regulated so that more or less oil will pass therethrough, thus providing for efficient lubrication oi the part.
lVhat is claimed is:
An oil cup comprising an oil retaining receptacle, an outlet tube disposed vertically in the receptacle and having lateral openings in its upper end, and a cylindrical cap mounted on said tube end having openings in its flange cooperating with the openings of the tube for controlling the flow of lubricant through the cap and through said cooperating openings of the tube.
