COMBINED CURTAIN, SHADE, AND DRAPERY SUPPORT.

Application filed December The present invention relates to improvements in combined curtain, shade and drapery supports, and the primary object of the invention is'to provide an improved support of this character embodying features whereby a curtain, shade and drape may be pendently supported within a casing which con ceals the supports therefor, and which casing also serves for preventing the accumulation of dust on the upper portions of the articles supported thereby.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved support of this character embodying fixed supporting heads, and between which heads a plurality of longitudinally adjustable supporting fixtures are disposed with their ends supported in the confronting spaces of the heads in a manner so as to permit of ready placing and removing of the fixtures from the heads.

A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of an improved support of this character having filler pieces detachably secured at their ends to the under surface of the casing of the support, and

which filler pieces aside from forming a partial closure for the lower side of the casing also serve as guides for certain of the articles supported in the casing.

A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of improved longitudinally adjustable shade roller so constructed as to permit of the bearings carried by the opposite ends thereof being mounted in suitably formed apertures provided in the confronting faces of a pair of supporting brackets.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which drawings:

The frame B which may be of any desired length and which is preferably of a shape in cross section as illustrated in the drawings, embodies a sheet metal cover plate which is closed at each end by

21 and 22. Each of the supporting heads embodies a frame 23 to the outer side of which a closure plate 24k is secured,

and to the inner sides of which heads are secured supporting plates 25 adapted for receiving the ends of the various fixtures sup ported within the frame B. The cover plate 20 which extends across the upper and front faces of the

21 and 22 is secured to the heads in any desired manner and serves also as a means for retaining the heads in proper spaced relation.

21 and 22, are suitable pins 26 which are adapted to be positioned in suitable supporting bracket 27 for supporting the frame upon the window F. It is to be understood however that various means may be employed for securing the support to the Window casing.

31 and 32 having spherical shaped heads formed at their opposite ends for fitting in the yieldable sockets 28. It will be seen that when the fixturesare inuposition, the spherical heads 33 will prevent accidental displacement of the fixtures.

Secured to each of the supporting heads, is a guide 34 having inwardly opening slots 35 and into which the edges of the shade 36 moves forguiding theshade in astraight path when being wound up.

These filler pieces 37 and-38 have beenmade "removable forthe purpose: of gaining ready access to the fixtures when desiring to change the articles suspended therefrom.

Such removal of the filler pieces is accomplished by imparting a one-quarterturn to the pins 40 and then withdrawing the same fromthe supporting heads.

Referring now to the improved roller shad'e'C, the same embodies a reducedend portion 50 over which is fitted a tubular sleeve 51 having a head 52 closing its outer end and which head carries a pintle 53 for mounting in the cylindrical socket 30 of the supporting plate 25. Formed intermediate the ends of the sleeve 51 is a longitudinally extending slot 54. Secured at one end to the shade roller 55, as by suitable pins 56, is a strip 57 which extends in overlying relation to the sleeve51. This strip 57 forms a support for the portion of the shade 36 which extends over the sleeve 51. Apin 58 extending throughthe strip 57 and slot 54: into the reduced end portion 50 of the shade roller, serves for further supporting the strip 57 and also limiting the outward'movement of the sleeve '51. From the foregoing description it will be apparent that anextremely novel curtain, shade and drapery support has been provided whereby dust and the like will be,

prevented from accumulating on the supporting portions thereof, and embodying fixed supporting heads between which longitudinally adjustable fixtures may be supported in an efiicient manner.

Various changes maybe. made to the specific form of the invention .herein shown and described without departing from the spirit of the invention or #the scope of the claims.

In a device of'the class described-,the combination of a pair of hollow supporting heads, means for supporting the heads in fixed spaced relation and supporting plates carried by the inner sides of the heads in confronting relation .to one another andhavder side .of the frame'andsecured attheir ends to said heads below the. sockets for said fixtures.
