CURTAIN HANGER.

My invention relates to improvements in curtain hangers, and it consists in thelcombinations, constructions and arrangements herein'described and claimed:

An object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described in which the rods from'which the curtains are suspended may be lowered to permit the curtains to be placed thereon or removed without the use of a step ladder or the like/ i A further object'of my invention is to provide a device of the character described in which a plurality of rods may be sup ported parallel to one another and lowered and elevated simultaneously.

A further object of my invention is'to provide a device of the character described which is extremely simple in construction and thoroughly effective. for the purpose intended. i

Other objectsand advantages will appear, in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention willbe particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In carrying out my invention, I provide two cast metal brackets 1 and 2, which are adapted by means of wood screw members 3 to be secured to a window or door frame 4:. From the foregoing description of the various parts of the device, the operation thereof may be readily understood. Normally the rods from which the curtains or drapes are suspended are in the position shown in Fig. 1. When it is desired to change the curtains or remove them, the hook 36 is seeured to the plate 28 through the opening 37. The locking plate 35 is then moved to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. This will enable the operator to remove the plate 28 from the button 32. and

A device of the character-described comprising a rod for suspending curtains or the like therefrom, a pair of supporting members adaptedto support each one end of said rod, a pair of brackets, each or said brackets having a pulley Wheel rotatably mounted thereupon, a pair offiexible cables, one arranged for travel and support upon each of said pulley wheels each of said cables secured at one end to one of said supporting members, and means associated with the other ends of said cablesfor securing said cables against longitudinal movement thereof, said means comprising a plate securely fastened to the saidother ends said cables, said plate having an opening therethrough, a button adapted to be secured to awindow casing or the like at which said rod is supported, and a lock plate carried by said button for'locking said button through said opening in said plate.
