This invention relates to the manufacture of woven, knitted or other textile fabrics. When cotton or other suitable yarn finished in the ordinary way is used for weaving, knitting or other textile purposes. and the article is exposed to water. in most cases the article gets flufi'y and so loses its appearance, due to the fact that by the action of 'water the finish is softened or is loosened or Articles made with yarns so finished, or the yarns themselves. have to be singed or otherwise treated in order to improve their appearance.
I have now found that by using a yarn which has been impregnated with a permanent finish by treatment with an acetate of cellulose solution for the manufacture of fabrics, ribbons, or textiles, or articles, the article into which it is woven, or the yarn itself, can be exposed to water treatment without losing its appearance and without getting fluffy. Instead of using yarn treated with cellulose acetate solution, I can use yarns treated with solution of other organic cellulose esters or ethers (hereinafter included in the term organic derivatives of cellulose), to create a permanent impregnation or finish in cotton yarns or other suitaable yarns. Forinstance, if cotton yarn so 0 treated with a permanent finish is woven together with silk in a ribbon, this mixed silk cotton ribbon can be dyed or otherwise be exposed to water without spoiling the appearance of the ribbon, whilst if in such case a cotton yarn is used containing a finish that was not permanent the appearance of the ribbon is fluify. and generally bad after treatment with water or the like.

operation of impregnating or doping textile fabrics with solutions of cellulose acetate or the like for the purpose of producing taut water proof materials. In such operations the coating preparations are applied to the woven or like fabric after its-manufacture, and fill and seal the interstices of the fabric, \vhereas according to the present invention textile fabrics are woven, knitted or constructed entirely or partly of yarn which has been impregnated with a permanent finish of cellulose acetate or other organic derivatives of cellulose. such yarn being hereinafter in the claiming clauses referred to as individually impregnated yarn. 7
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: i
1. Textile fabrics comprising yarn individually impregnated with a permanent finish of an organic derivative of cellulose.
2. Textile fabrics comprising cotton yarn individually impregnated with a permanent finish of an organic derivative of cellulose.
3. Textile fabrics comprising yarn individually impregnated with a permanent finish of cellulose acetate.
4. Textile fabrics comprising cotton yarn individually impregnated with a permanent finish of cellulose acetate.
5. Textile fabrics consisting of cotton yarn impregnated with a permanent finish of cellulose acetate, and of silk yarns unimpregnated with said permanent finish.
