COMBINED CASE AND RAZOR HOLDER.

My present invention relates generally to containers and more particuarly to an arrangement whereby a container for a razor and a cigarette case can be so associated that the cigarette case forms the shipping display and sales package for the razor container.

In order to permit of the shipment, proper display and convenient sale of razors, particularly of the separable safety type, it has been the custom generally hitherto, to provide a container for the razor which not only was made to serve its utilitarian func tions as a container, but also was constructed so as to be extremely attractive well as attracting, and as a result of this, the cost of this container was a great deal in excess of what is required from the standpoint merely of utility, and this cost, it has been found by actual calculation, is far in excess of that justified by merely the value of the box from the standpoint of attraction. One of the important objects of my invention is to provide with areceptacle for a safety razor which will serve adequately as such while it is in actual use as a razor, a container which. in addition to presenting all of the desirable factors hitherto present in such containers from the standpoint of shipment, display, etc, can be given by the purchaser a use wholly independent and apart from its use as a razor container, and which additional utility and function fully justifies the additional expenditures disbursed therefor.

A nother object of my invention is the provision with a receptacle for a safety razor of a container which takes the form of a conventional cigarette case and which container can be so employed, without impairing the function of the receptacle for its intended and'desired purposes.

My invention further provides a receptacle for a safety razor so constructed and arranged as to permit of it being received, contained and effectively held within a conventional type of cigarette case.

My invention further provides a novel, simple, efficient and economical receptacle for a razor made wholly of metal stampings.

For the purpose of attaining these objects and such other objects as may hereinafter appear or be pointed out, I have illustrated in the drawings, one embodiment of my invention wherein Fig. 1 is a perspective View of my razor containing receptacle positioned withina more or less conventional type of cigarette case.

Fig. 2 is a top plan view looking down upon the receptacle for receiving the razor parts and accessories.

Fig. 2 shows the blank from which the body portion of the receptacle is formed;

Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2;

Fig. 4 is a section taken on line 44 of Fig. 3; and

Fig. 5 shows the cigarette case used in its ordinary conventional way.

Upon viewing Fig. 2 of the'drawing, it will be observed that myrazor containing receptacle comprises generally two compartments 10 and 11 connected in spaced relation by the web 12, the compartments being closed at their ends by the end pieces 13 and 14.

The intermediate or body part of this'receptacleof Fig. 2 is formed from a single, blank shown in detail in 2 of the drawing, wherein it will be observed the blank has its central port-ion cut away altogether to provide the opening as shown at 50 for purposes that will be understood. The blank is made up of the intermediate sections 16 and 17 which extend transversely of and preferably coterminously with the cut away portion 50, the end wall sections 18 and 1.9 on one side of the blank and the end wall sections 20 and 21 on the other side, these end wall sections being provided with the flanges 22, 28, 24 and 25 respectively for purposes that will appear. are shaped preferably by a stamping operation to form the walls 30, 31 and 32 from the one wall sect-ion16 and the walls 33, 34 and 35 from the other wall section 17, as more clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing. The part of the blank of Fig. 2 above the line A--A and including the walls 16,18 and 20 are now bent upwardly along this line A,A to a position substantially at right angles to the bottom sections 26 and 27, and the wall sectioiis 17, 19 and 21 are similarly bent up into parallelisn'i with the wall sections on the other side along the line BB and with the parts properly dimensioned the walls 31 and 34 will be in parallelism andadjacent each other, as shown in Fig. 2 and the tab 500171011 41 will be substantially 1n registry with the opening 40, to permit ofthe tab 41 being passed through the opening 40 and then bent down as more clearly shown in Fig. 4 of the drawing, thus securely connecting the two walls 31 and 34 of the main body member to form the web section 12 From the description thus far given, it Will be observed that I form as the body portion of the receptacle, the walls. 18, 19, and 33 and the bottom 26 delimiting the major part of the compartment 10 and the walls 20, 21, 32, 35 and the bottom 27 delimiting the major part of the compartment 11.

The end members 13 and 14 to complete the receptacle walls are preferably in the form of curved members having their free edges so as to be received within the flange-s 22, 23, 24 and 25,(see Figure 2*),which have been channeled for this purpose as clearly shown in Fig 2 of the drawing, and the flanges 51 and 52 at the bottom members 26 and 27 are bent upwardly and curved to the curvature of the members 13 and 14 and are positioned immediately exterior thereof.

The walls 13 and 14 may be secured fixedly in the position shown in Fig. 2 in any desired or preferred manner, as by soldering, brazing, etc. V. i

From the description thus far given, it will be observed that I have in this manner formed a receptacle which ismade up of two spaced compartments between which is a web 12 positioned preferably centrally of the width of the compartments, so that there is provided between the compartments and on each side of the receptacle, the spaces defined by the walls 30, 31 and 32 and the walls 33, 34 and 35 respectively, the purpose of which will now be ointed out.

In Figs.-1 and 5 o the drawing, I have shown a more 'or less conventional type of cigarette case and holding means therein,

which on the illustrated embodiment is made up of two substantially similar halves 60 and 61 so shaped as to provide a substantial space therebetween when closed, the two halvesbeing hingedtogetherras shown at so dimensioned and constructed thatflwlien positioned withinthe cigarette case as shown in Fig. 1, the spacesprovided between the compartments 10 and 11, as basalt-early been described, will be positioned in registry with these fingers 66 andGT so that even though the height of the receptacle of Fig.

rom the description thus far given, it will be observed that I have not only provided a simple, economical and eiiicient receptacle for holding the parts ofa razor and also the blades, but have so constructed and dc vised this receptacle, that itcan be conveniently received within the conventional type of cigarette case. As a result of this, the cigarette case itself serves as the container for the safety razor and the safety razor receptacle, so as to permit ofthe receptacle and its contents being shipped, displayed and sold not only in a convenient way and packed in an attractive case, but whenin the hands of a. consumer, the safety razor receptacle, as shown inFig. 1, can be removed from the cigarette case and the cigarette case thereafter used solely as a cigarette case, or alternatively, the parts can be'so con- 'structed, that the section 61 for instance,

can serve to'hold cigarettes along with the shaving razor receptacle contained therein.

While I have set forth thesteps employed for forming the body of the receptacle from the blank of Fig.2,- it will be understood that this is merely illustrative, both as to the number of steps employed, their char acter and their sequence.

Having thus described my invention and illustrated its use, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent isl. A receptacle for containing razor parts and accessories and adapted to be received and contained within a conventional cigarette case of a type which is provided with a holding means extending across the interior thereof, said receptacle having a space exterior-1y thereof and intermediate its ends within which is adapted to be positioned said holding means whereby the receptacle will be held in predetermined position by said holding means.

A receptacle for containing razor parts and accessories and adapted to be received and contained within a conventional type of cigarette case of a type which is made up of pivoted container sections, at least one of which is provided with a holding means extending across the inside thereof, said receptacle being of a height greater than that of said container section and having a space exteriorly thereof and intermediate its ends within which said holding means is positioned whereby the receptacle can be held in predetermined position by said holding means. 7

3. A receptacle for containing razor parts and accessories, and adapted to be received and contained within a conventional type of cigarette case of a type which is made up of pivoted container sections, at. least one of which is provided with a holding means eX- tendingacross the inside thereof, said receptable being of a height greater than that of said container section and having spaces on opposite sides and exterior thereof intermediate its ends. within either of which spaces, said holding means is positioned whereby the receptacles can be held pre-- determinedly in reversed positions by said holding means.

A receptacle for containing razor parts and accessories, and adapted to be received and contained within a conventional type of cigarette case of a type which is made up of pivoted container sections, with a holding means extending across the inside thereof, said receptacle being of a height greater than that of said container section and said receptacle comprising spaced compartments so arranged that when the receptacle is positioned within the cigarette case, the space between the compartn'ients will be in registry with, and will receive therein the holding means.

5. A blank to form the side walls, the botton and one end wall of each of a plurality of spaced compartments and also the connecting means therefor, said blanlt'having its center cut away, whereby the portion of the blank extending transversely of this cut away portion can be shaped to form the said end walls for the compartments and also the means connecting the compartments.

6. The process of forming the body portion of a plurality of spaced connected sections, from a blank having its central portion cut away, said process including the steps of shaping each of the portions of the blank transversely of and coterminous with the cut away portion into parallel walls, and a connecting section, and then bending the blank along lines in registry with the longitudinal delimiting lines of the cut away portion, whereby said end walls so formed are brought in registry with each other so as to form one of the end walls of each compartment, and the connecting sections are brought into parallelism, to form the means for connecting the sections.
