' 1 GAME.
Application led `February My invention'relates to Againes 'and more particularly to one relating to'cartoinancy, the `principal object of theinvention being to. provide a device for employing that art as a game wherein' card reading' is effected by Vmechanical selection. .v
lnv accomplish'ng this objectl have prof vided'iinproved details of structure, the vpreferredv forms of which are illustrated inthe accompanying'drawings wherein Y Fig. 1 is aplan view of ai game device constructed' 'n accordance with my invention. Y 1 f Fig. Qis a crossfsectional View through the device on thefline 2-`2 of Fig. l1. f
Referring more in detail to the drawings,
ldesignates a card or board.l upon the various oracles involved "inthe play, decorativeV matter (not shown) and'` indicia pertaining be printed to form the field, Lhe functional indiciafcoinprising a ring 2 divided into spaces?) byv radial lines 4r eX- tending from the eenterto the periphery'of the circle. Printed ineach spaceB, near the periphery ofthe circle, is a facsimile of one of the playing cards of an ordinary deck, there being `one space for each card, the
. cardsiof the several suits being groupedtogether andv arranged Y fourth quadrant, `8,
cupying a vquarter of the circle, the quadrants `being separated along horizontal and vertical lines. For example, the first quadrant, 5, contains the suit'of heats, the second quadrant, 6, the suit of spades,`tliev third quadrant, 7, the 'suit of diamonds, and the the suitof clubs. [In an inner ring 9 adjacent the ring 2 and rbetween the radial lines separating the, card Y spaces 3 arepiniprinted the numerical values of the corresponding cards.k n
Pivotallymounted on the field at the'cen' ter of the circle is a pointer or indicating dei' vice 11, preferably comprising a flat strip Y may rotate'freelyupon itspivot, out of coni tact with the board.
of sheetmetal orcardboard, `having a `point l 12 atl oneend and a corresponding notch 13 y atthe other end to represent an. arrow and balance the pointer on its pivot. The pivot 14 comprises a rivet which extends through an opening 15 midway of the pointer,
through a spacing. washerl and through an opening 17 in the board 1, so that the arrow At each corner of the field, outside ofthe circle is a schedule 18, 19, 2O or 21 headed by the ritieni. a suit, the hearts, clubs,

or diamonds, and comprising a list of `the cards in their order, each number or initial being followed by a description of the oracle meaning or translation of the card, andeach schedule topped by the word Yes.forNo to indicate certain results of the play here-y cards and consisting of the letters A, Kf
Q and J to designate the ace, lring, queen and Jack, followed by the oracle meanv ing and preceded by the figure 8? for a purpose presently described.
While many different methods of yplay may be employed withthe device, lI will'de scribe one which l have devised aiidrecommended in instructions accompanying lthe gama i In 'playing compleXions in sov fary as the readings Vrelate t0 persons,
dium` brunettes; and spades, decided ybrunettes. The player makes a wish,`as for in-` stance, that hemay be successful in a business matter then of interest to him. He then spinsr the p ointer to the right three separateV times,y malnng note of the card to which the arrow pointswhen at `rest after each spin,-
Assuming `tliatthese stops' areat the ten of the game, the suits-indicate v diamonds indicating decided` blondes; hearts, medium blondes; clubs, inediamonds, the siX of hearts and the yfive Vof Y clubs, the player will vconsult the schedules and note that the ten of diamonds means Large amount of money received or valu- 'table present;-the' siX of hearts, Friend and the' five of clubs, Package or-business The player again spins the pointer three times, pointerstops, as before, and again consults the schedule fortranslation.` This `time he notingthe cards at which the l icc may have the seven of spades, meaning f From awaygr the ace of clubs, .meaning A `business transactionuand theyjacl; of jdiamonds, meaning A light young'man, He then combines the six readings to complete the message, which, 1n the example given,
.can be connected to read: The inquirer will receive some papers from a light youngman friend who is out of town. These papers are.
With referenceto a business transaction in volvng a large ernennt of money The 'player malte as :many spine he desires, taking note ot the cards at which the pointer stops, consulting the schedules to obtain the meanings o't the cards and finall)v connecting the meanings as a message in answer to the question that he has asked.
Next, the gaine may be extended by the player makingl threeI spins to determine whether his wish will come true. @n the firstthree spins he ina7 get the ten ot hearts,
meaning Good luck;A five ot diamonds, meaning "Real soon"`: and the fire ot hearts,
n'ieaning Contract or proinise: which, when assembled, may read: Real soon there will be good luck concerning a contract.
He maiv then spin three times to detei'- mine the result ot the contract, and may gety the nine of clubs ii'ieaniiig Sure, the ten ot diamonds, meaning Large amount ot money and the king ot hearts, meaning The inquirer, which three meanings, connected, make up the message Real sure there is a large amount oi" money to the iiiquirer concerning his wish.
The player may then desire to know how longl it will be before his wish will come true. For his answer lie again spins the pointer and it it stops at 3, he is intoriii-ed thaty his wish will come true within three months, the number of the card in this instance representing months.
Should the player desire a yes or iio7 answer to his question, he spins the pointer and his answer is determined by the corner word iu the quadrant in which the pointl of the arrow comes to rest.
It, during the play, the pointer should stop three times at the ace. king, queen or Iiack o'lf the players complexion suit, he i'e- Yfers to the special schedule 'lor the additional reading there indicated.
From the foregoing it is apparent that the. gaine ma)7 be'played by one or more; that it is capable ot `various modifications and adaptations according to rule or whim ot' the players and. involving the art of cartoii'iancy in addition to mere amusement, atl'ords a greater range oi interest than an ordinarivv game.
