Description
1927 G. HOBBlSlEFKEN DEVICE FOR FACILITATING THE MARKING 0F DOORS AND DOOR JAMBS FOR HINGES Filed urcn 25, 1926 Patented Ma er, 1921 Application fil ed" Mantegna; seriarn. 015350. .7
The invention has relation to a device for facilitating the marking of doorsvand-door ambs or casings, for the application of the v hinges thereto, and has for an object'tosave "time and labor and the. invention consists in v the novel construction 'andicombinationsof i 1 partsvas set'forth inthe appended T'claims.
In the accompanying drawings illustratpmg'the invention, Flgure'l is a perspective view of the invention as applied, the door beingshown in dotted lines; Figure 2 is a "front View of the invention; Figure 31s a section on the line 3+8, Figure '2,tand Fig-' 111'64 1s a detail fragmentary rear VlGW'Of the invention; the numeral 1 designates the invention, which as a whole is' of elongated form and embodies a member of slight thick- 1 mass and of approximately the width and length of an edge portion'of a'door, to which,
it is intended to be applied in' its ,use, being made of light portablenature, and otthree main sections. 7 V 7 The-middle section is designated 2, and
the end sections 3 are connected 'to the middleflsection in such way that the end sections maybe adjusted inwardly towards or out Wardly away from the middle section to make the entire device shorter or longer as may be required, suitable provision for adustment being provided, such-as 1s afforded by a series of perforations a in the sec tions certain perforations of overlapping sections being adapted to be aligned'and bolts 5 passed through the aligned perforations to secure the sections together.*
The middle section is provided with an 0 enin 6 centrall thereof anddesi 'nat- P c y o to each other and to the upper end section ing the location of the middle hinge upon a door, and the end sections arefeach provided with an opening 7 designating the locat1on 0f the upper and lower door hlnges.
In the use of the invention it is hung from the upper edge of the door by meansof an end flange 8 of the ClGVlCQ hooked over the top of the door, and the middle section and lower end section are adjusted relatively to bring thehinge opening of the-middle section centrally of the door and the lower hooked end flange 90f the device againstthe lower edge of the door, when the several openings. ofthe sections will lbe suitablylocated upon the door so thata markermay be passed around the inside of said openings to mark theloeation of the hinges upon the door. In'the'precise application of the flanges for the "sections-w;
