WRIST-WATCH STRAP.
Application filed. August 9, 1926. Serial No. 128,189.
Our invention relates to improvements in wrist watch straps, and our object is to provide a neat and attractive strap of this character having its margins decorated with ornamental lacings as will hereinafter appear, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 shows the strap attached to av wrist watch. Fig. 2 is a detail edge view showing the two sections of the finished strap.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the parts disclosed by Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a detail plan view of the two sections of the strap Without the lacings.
' Referring in detail to the different parts, 2 designates one section and 4 the companion section of the strap. The section 2 is provided at its ends with loops 6 and 8, the
former of which is e ui ed with a buckle 10 while the loop 8 isadapted to be attached to one side of a wrist watch A. The strap section 2 is provided at its ends with laterally projecting shoulders 12 and 14 consti- 5 tuting important features of the invention. Said strap section 2 is also provided adjacent to the shoulders 12 with an enlargement 16 which has a keeperlS mounted thereon.
The companion strap section 4 has a series 3 ceive the tongue of the buckle 10 when the two sections 2 and 4 are secured around the wrist to hold the watch A in position. The
section 4 is provided at one end with a loop 22 and laterally projecting shoulders 24, which latter like the shoulders 12 and 14 constitute important features of the invention. The loop 22 forms convenient means whereby the strap section 4 can be attached to the watch at a point diametrically opposite the strap section 2.
26 designates lacings which are sewed or otherwise suitably appliedto the two longitudinal margins of the strap section 2. The la c ngs 26 consist of leather or other suitable material and extend from the shoulders 12 to the shoulders 14. Said lacings 126 overlap the margins of the strap 2 in order to come flush or approximately flush with the sides 28 and 30, respectively, of said shoulders. The lacings 26 also secure the ends of the keeper 18 to the enlargement 16.
The strap section 4 is provided with lacing 32, which extends from the shoulders 24 along the longitudinal margins and around one end of said section 4, as best of holes 20 any of which are adapted to reshown byFigs. 1 and 3. The lacing 321s preferably applied in the same manner as the lacings 26 and overlaps the] margins of the section 4. in order to come flush or apvented from curling up or otherwise getting out of shape, but sa1d lacmgs lend an ornamental and distinctive appearance to said strapsections. It is also apparent that the laterally projecting shoulders 12, 14 and 24' protect the ends of the respective'lacings and by coming flush or approximately flush with. the projectingportions of said lacings enhance the appearance of the finished article.
While we have shown and described the preferred form of our invention we reserve all rights to such changes andmodifications tl'iereof as properly fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: j
1. A strap having an enlarged portion, a keeper mounted upon said enlarged portion,
and lacings secured to said strap and holdplace upon said enlarged .tions having an edge approximately flush with the projecting portions of said lacings. r
4. A strap provided at 1ts narrow margins with laterally projectingshoulders, and lacings secured to the strap between said shoulders and projecting over the adjacent narrow margins of said strap.
In testimony whereof We affix our signatures.
WESLEY HANKINSON. JACOB J. KNEBEL.
