The roof strap 15 is in the form of a metal strip, the lower end of which is bent horizontally as shown at 25, the said horizontal portion being provided with dowmvardly extending flanges 26. The strap rests upon the top web 16 of the bar section 13, its flanges 26 being disposed in recesses 27 in the side flanges 17 ofthe bar section 13. Adjacent the outer ends of the flanges 26, the strap l5 is bent upwardly, as shown at 28, and adjacent the other f. ends of the said flanges, there is formed on the said 'strap an upwardly extending projection' 29, co-operating with the upwardly bent portion 28 of the strap in a manner hereinafter to be described. strap and the bar 13 is made by a clip 30, which straddles the roof strap 15 and the bar 13. This clip fits between the upwardly extending portion 28 and the projection 29 of the roof strap and is U-shaped in transverse cross-section. The freeV edges 31 of the side fianges 32 of the said clip are bent against the inner faces of the side It will be noted that, inasmuch as the clip is disposed between the upwardly extending portion 28 and the projection 29 of the roof strap, the said clip cannot disengage itself from the said roof strap after the parts have been assembled. The roof strap, on the other hand, cannot move longitudinally on the bar section 13, because its flanges 26 are disposed in therecesses 27 in the side flanges 17 of the bar section 13. Y

z At the juncture of the bar 13 and the hook-shaped bend 18 is formed a stiffening rib 33. This rib extends, preferably, across the juncture, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 to 3, inclusive, of the drawings, and serves to insure proper bending of the hook-shaped portion into snug engagement with the bead of the gutter, as will hereinafter appear.

` The operation of this device is as follows: First the end 14 of the. strap 14, which projects beyond the arc-shaped portion 21, is inserted into the gutter bead, and then the hook-shaped -section 18 engaged with the said bead, by forcing the bar 13 downwards until the bent portion 19 on the free end of the said bar is engaged with the plain edge 12 of the gutter. rllhe end 14 of the strap 14 being disposed in the bead and a rib 33 being formed at the juncture of the hookshaped section and the bar 13, a proper bending of the said hook-shaped section and snug engagement thereof with said bead is insured when the bar section 13 is forced downwards against the plain edge 12 of the gutter. The strap 14 is then bent around the gutter and extended through. the slot 20 in the bar section 13. The free end of the stra-p 14 is then bent downwards into engagement with the bentportion 19, as clearly shown in F ig. 1 of thedrawings. The free end 21 of the hook-shaped section 18 of the hanger is arc-shaped to insure a snug fit thereof against the body portion of the gutter. It is to be noted that, since the end 14. of the strap 14 is disposed in the bead of the gutter, the hook-shaped section 18 is effectively locked in position.v

What I claim is y 1. A gutter hanger including a channel bar extending transversely between the upper edges of the gutter, said bar being centrally provided in each of its side fianges with a recess, a roof strap having its lower end resting upon said bar and being provided with flanges seated in said recesses, and a clip straddling the lower end of said roof strap .and said bar and thereby holding said roof strap in position upon said bar.

.2. A gutter hanger for use with a gutter having a beaded edge comprising a bar extending transversely of the gutter and pro.- vided at its outer end with a hook-shaped section fitting over the bead of the gutter,

the opposite end of said bar being adapted to be fixed to the opposite edge of the gutter, the free end of said hook-shaped section being channeled, a strap member designed to underlie the gutter, said strap member extending through the channeled end of said hook-shaped section and having an extension adapted for insertion into the beaded edge of the gutter, the other end of said strap member being adapted to be engaged with the opposite end of said bar, and coacting projections and recesses on the channel'ed portion of said hook shaped section and strap member for fixing said last-named two elements against longitudinal movement in relation to one another.
