Original application filed March 20, 1924, Serial. No. 700,562. Divided and this application filed August Thi invention relates to improvements in Weighing and fill ng machines.
My improvements are especially designed and at the same time quite simple in structure.
Second, to provide an improved filling machine of very large capacity.
Third, to provide an improved 'bagfilh ing machine which requires but little eiiort on the part of the operator.

\I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure embodying the features of my invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part oi this application, in which:

567, tiled March 20, 1924 of Which applicacation this is a division. The rotor cylinder has a discharge passage 6. The machine is designed to deliver to valve bags 8 which are slipped uponthe spouts 7, the upper end of one of the bags 8 being indicated by dotted lines in Fig. V. A pair of these spouts 7 is provided the spouts being adjustably mountedat 9 on a 10 which is supported r or oscillating movement so that the spouts are alternately brought into registering relation with the discharge passage 6.
The carrlcr 10 is pivotally, mounted on the scale beam 11, the scale beam being pivoted at 12 and having a Weight 18 at its outer end. The carrier 10 is pivoted on the scale beam at 14 and is provided with a yoke .15 at its upper-end with which the actnating-leverlfi coacts, the lever being pivoted at 17 and rovided with a roller 18 engaging the yo c. with seats 19 at its ends.
The lever 16 is actuated by the spring 20 Whichslidably engages the slotted arm 22 on the upper end of the. lever. parts thus arranged, When-the member 10 is raised the spring is placed under stress storing power for actuating the lever. The carrier is provided with twoports 23 adapted to alternately register with the p the carrier during its oscillating movement constituting a valve for the passage sothat it is a combined valve and spout carrier.
It is intended that the operator shall place a bag upon the spout in inoperative position being filled so that as soon as the discharge passage isuncovered a bag is-in' while a bag is position to receive it. A platform 2 t pivotally and slida'bly mounted ed for supporting the bags, the pivots being slidably supported by the plates 26 having vertical slots 27 therein. The pivots are carried by the platform. hangers 28 which are carried by the scale beam.

On the downward'movement of the platform occasioned by the tilting of the scale beam, this latch comes in contact with the trip 32 releasing the latch and allowing the platform to tilt and discharge the filled bags into the chute The downward movement of the scale beam also releases the spouts so that the spouts tilt substantially simultaneously with the tilting of the platform to discharge the bags.
The spouts are held in their erected position by the keeper arm 34 under which the upwardly projecting arms 85 on the spouts project when the spouts are in filling position; that is, the arms alternately swing under the keeper as the member 10 oscillates. When the carrier moves downwardly the arms 35 pass from under these keepers allowing the spouts to tilt. After the bags are discharged the spout-s are returned to their erected. position by the coiled springs 37. The arm8-i is provided with a thrust bearing 38 under which the member 10 oscillates.
Theplatform is returned to its erected position by the counterweight 39 projecting into an opening 40 in the pedestal, see Figs. I and II where the platform is shown in erected and discharging positions.
My improved filling machine is of very large capacity and the labor in operating the same is minimized.
I have illustrated and described my improvements as l have embodied the same in a device which I have found very practical. l have not attempted to illustrate or describe certain embodiments or adaptations which I contemplate as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt the same as may be desired. v
Having thus described my invention what I claiin as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a structure of the class described, the combination of feed means having a feed opening, a weighing mechanism comprising a scale beam, a combined carrier and valve member mounted on said scale beam for oscillating and vertical movement, spouts piv-- otally mounted on said member to be alternately brought into operative relation to said feed opening, a keeper with which said spouts engage when in operative position, means "for releasing said spouts from said keeper on the downward movement of said member, a tilting platform carried by said scale beam, a latch for holding said platform in erected position, and a trip with which said latch is engaged on the downward movement of said platform.
2. (5. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a weighing mechanism, a combined spout carrier and feed control member mounted on said weighing mecha-' nism for oscillating and vertical movement, spouts pivotally mounted on said member to be alternately brought to operative position, and a ltceper with which said spouts engage when in operative position, means for releasing said spouts "from said keeper on the downward movement of said member.
7.
