Above the hopper of the discharge device there is mounted a shaft 71. This may be connected to an agitating device for assisting in feeding material to the hopper, as is well known in the art. Shaft 71 is provided with an eccentric 72 connected by a link 73 to a pivot 74 on an arm 75 of a rock shaft 76. Another arm 77 on rock shaft 76 is pivoted to a lifting member 78. A lifting hook 79 is pivoted at 80 to member 78, and is provided with a notch 81 adapted to engage a pin 8201i lever 18. A spring 83 normally presses lifting hook '79 to the position in which it is shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 4. A link 84 pivoted at 85 to a fixed bracket carries a roller 86 adapted to engage hook member 79 and press it into operative position. A spring 87 connects link 84 with a pin 88 directly above pivot 85 and tends to hold link 84 in a sliding position on either side of the vertical to which it is moved. Link '84 is provided with a pin 89 working in a ing spout so as to receive material discharged through the filling opening and through spout 44 into the bag. hen suflicient material has been fed into the bag to overbalance the scale beam so as to result in a downward movement of frame 37, set screw 35 engages the end of trigger 29 and releases latch 24. Thereupon, spring 16 pulls the gate downward to its closed position, as shown in F ig. 3, swinging the upper end of lever 18 to the right and forcing latch 24 outward to the position in which it is shown in Fig. 3.
