As is seen in Figs. 7 and 8 the spacin plate 1 is arranged between the usua flexible blade 5 and the guard 2, the projecting parts, of the plate being in contact with the blade and its smooth concave part bearing on the guard.
lVhen the razoris clamped (by turning the-nut 6) the plate 1 keeps the blade 5 and the guard 2 a certain distance apart 65 (equal the full thickness of the plate 1). In consequence of this, the blade has an increased cutting power without the apparatus losing its safety qualities.
Moreover, owing to the hollowed out places 1 in the'plate, the fragments of hair and the soap can readily move below the blade. This prevents the fouling of the apparatus and facilitates the rinsing and cleaning' of the razor. Y
It is quite understood that'these hollowed out places which areonly an'improvement in the ori inal object of the plate which is the elevation of the blade above the guard, may be shaped other than shown in the I0 drawing, it being understood that for superelevating the blade a few points of thickness between the blade and the guard will Obviously; other methods and other forms I of construction can be resorted to without a f a razor change in the nature of this invention.
