Description

G. H. AKERLUND. RAZOR WIPING ATTACHMENT FOR SHAVING MUGS.
APPLICATION FILED FEB. 5.1917- Patented Feb. 12, 1918.
uvrmrrax. G. H. IMERLUND. BYH/B .arromvzr:
GUSTAF H. AIKERLUND, OF IBRAY, MINNESOTA.
RAZOR-WIPING ATTACHMENT FOB, SHAVING-MUGS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAF H. AKERLUND,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Bra v in the county" of Pennington and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Razor-Wiping Attachment for Shaving- Mugs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to shavin mugs, and the object is to provide a shaving mug with means for removing the lather from the razor without the use of paper, cloth or similar wiping devices. Anotherv object is to make the new razor cleaning device an attachment to any ordinary shaving mug.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is an elevation of a shaving mug with my device clamped to one side, and showing a razor placed in position to be cleaned. Fig. is alscctional elevation on the line 22 in Referring to the drawing by reference numerals, 1 designates an ordinary shaving mug made of china-ware or other glazed crockery or of metal; and, the cleaning device, consisting of a plate 3, is secured to the edge of the mug by the clamping member 8, having a thumb screw 9 the tightening of which will clamp the plate to themug. The plate 3 is provided with a notch,
Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed February 5, 1917. Serial No. 146,631.
forming two cleaning edges 5 and 5 so close together that when a razor 6 is drawn between them it will touch both of them simultaneously and thus clean both sides of it at one time. At the lower edge of the notch is provided a clearing 3 the object of which is to save the fine edge of the razor from direct contact with the cleaning pla'te'3.
In the use ofthe device, the lather is prepared in the mug in the usual manner by a brush (not shown) and is then applied to the face preparatory to shaving. Hair and lather then accumulate 'on the razor which is drawn between the edges 5 and 5 of the cleaning plate, and thus removes the lather which falls back into the cup or into a special compartment in the cup. The plate 3 may be made of sheet metal, aluminum, copper, rubber or any other suitable material.
lrVhat I claim is:
A. razor cleaning device comprising a plate with an aperture in it and a V-shaped notch extending with its point into the aperture, the edges of said notch being curved so as to fit the opposite sides of a hollow-ground razor.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
GUSTAF H. AKERLUND.
