COMBINED WINDOW STOP AND WEATHER STRIP.
Application filed April 9,
My invention relates to a combinedwindow sto and weather strip.
The ject of my invention is the provision of a combined windowstop and weather strip which permits carrying of the conventional sash members and balance means entirely within the formal jambs.
Another object of my invention is the particular means of relating the window stop means and the weather strip with relation to the sash members. i
A still further object is the provision (ifa single means whereln there are combined a window stop and a: weather strip, the said i members being positioned in such manner that the conventional sashes may be assembled 1 and 2 are front elevations of the outside and the inside of a window utilizing my present combined window stop and weather 'stri section showing mounting of the weight members, sashes, etc. Figure 4 isan enlarged sectional view in plan showing in .detai the arrangement of my comblned window stop and weather stri w1th relation to the sash and janib.
Referring to the drawin In Figures 1 and 2 are own the outside and inside of a window equipped with my device. The conventional outer and inner casings are shown at and 11 respectively with ,the formal 'amb' member 12 disposed ave described but one side but of course, there is a similarconstruct'ons at the other. 7
"At .13 and 14 are shown upper and lower The upper and lower sashes appear as 15 and 16 and it may bmaidthat these sashes. are of suflicient size that they fit snugly within the opposed jamb members in 0%er words, my invention 1s adapted to co-ope ate with the sash and jamb members in such relation that no space is required between the ends of the window and the jam'bs for the disposal of.
t e weight members and inalike manner 1923. Serial No. 630,695.
no utilization of the space beyond the jambs is necessary.
In Figure 4 perhaps the clearest showing of my particular device is made wherein I have shown said device in connection with both the upper and lower sash members. For brevity scribe one .of the sides, inasmuch as the description for one will sufiice for both, the only difference being that 'a similar structure would be assembled on the other side of the window. There is another exception in that the pulley for the lower sash is made somewhat largr tha'n that for the upper. This is clearly shown in the drawing at Astamped sheet metal plate is shown at 17,
jamb a short distance and finally it is thought only necessary to oleceptacle or groove 23 providing an attached or rather combined Weather strip. The sheet metal housing 18 is attached at one end to the outside casing 10 in a suitable mannerand the remainder of the sheet metal member is further attached to the jamb member at 21.
or rather lip 20 is adapted to engage a cor responding groove'23 upon the edge of said sash.
Pivotally mounted as at 24, in the upper within the casing and adapted to move upwardly and downwardly therein by meansof'the rope or cable 27' which is attached to the upper portion of the wei and at its other to sas as at 28. I
The operation of my device. is as follows the opposlte end of the and is similar to the operationof all window stops:
The manual movement of the sash member is permitted due to the balancing thereof by means of the weights disposed 1n the metal ght at one end casin withthe result that the sash may be 7 raised or lowered'to any desired point and maintained in said position by the heretofore described balance means. As .has been described, my sheet metal plate not only acts as a housing for the weight members, but also as a metal weather strip and runner for the sashes with the result that the assembly of my particular structure ermits the inclusion of a window stop mec anism and weather strip atthe same time. v
What I claim is:
The'combination with a window frame and sash member of window stop mechanism, a sheet metal portion adaptedfor ready attachment to the window jamb, said sheet ing the entire width of the sash, said flange the pulley of said sash balance mechamsm being pivoted in the container and lying parallel with the jamb, and said flange portion havinga raised member thereon acting as -a combined runner and weather strip therefor.
In testimony whereoihefafiixes his signature.
WILLIAM FRIEDMAN.
