IMPROVEMENT IN WAGON-BODIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 162,578, dated April 27, 1875; application ed v February 4, 1875.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL ROWELL, of Amesbury, Essex county, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Carriage-Bodies; and I do hereby declare that the following description and accompanying drawings are sulficient to enable any person lskilled in the art to make and use the same without further invention or experiment.
The nature of my invention consists in extending the body of the carriage back behind the back of the seat, to form a box or receptacle for carrying clothing and other articles.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a longitudinal Vertical section of a carriage body with my improvements. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
In the above-mentioned drawings, A is the floor or bottom of the carriage-body. B is the convenience in traveling, and-useful in many Ways.-
I claim- In a carriage-body, the combination of the Y seat-back D with the body-back, extended beyond it and forming box F, substantially as set forth.
