UNITED STATES CHAUNOEY HOLT, OF JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHILDRENS CARRIAGES.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,645, dated November 7, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHAUNGEY HoLT of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a certain Improvement in Childrens Carrie-ges; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of-this specification, in which- Figure l represents a longitudinal vertical section of my improved childrens carriage, the line c c, Fig. 2, indicating the plane of section. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same taken on the plane of the line kk, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to provide a childrens peralnbulator or carriage with a drawer, wherein to keep articles of food and other appliances that may be necessary or convenient for use of small children. The invention consists in the application of a drawer to a childrens carriage, when arranged in the lower part of the carriage-body in guides, and so that it can be operated by being drawn backward, forward, or to the side.
A in the drawing represents the carriage-body supported on three or more wheels, B B, and made of suitable form or size. C is a sliding` drawer, applied to the lower part of the carriagebody so that it can be opened by being drawn backward, it being thus within convenient reach of the person pushing the carriage. For the support of this drawer side rails a a are affixed to the lower part of the carriage-body; between them the drawer slides and has its support. In some kinds of childrens carriages the drawer may be so arranged under the carriage-body as to open by being drawn forward or to the side.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A childrens carriage having a sliding-drawer under the carriage-body, substantially as set forth.
The above specification of my invention signed by me this 27th day of September. 1871.
Witnesses: GHAUNCEY HOLT.
