This invention relates to improvements in cactus burners and contemplates the provision of such a burner as provides improvements over my patents for gasoline torch, Patent N umber 1,240,117 patented September 11, 1917, in providing a generating chamber having the outer end of the feed or pipe line coiled within the generating or burner chamber and adapted to be heated by the flames emitted from a jet included upon the outer free end of the feed or ipe line in order that a 'gaseous or vaporized fuel will thus be emitted or discharged from the jet.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a damper or flame deflector arranged within the generating or burner chamber and which is adapted to selectively deflect the flames thus discharged from the coiled portion of the feed or pipe line in order that the heat deflected upon the coiled portion of the feed or pipe line may be regulated in order that a certain temperature thereon may be regulated so that the said fuel or discharge vapor may be kept constant.
l i ith the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novelfeatures and details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a tank or reservoir having arranged upon one end thereof an inlet plug 11, an air inlet valve 12 and an air pressure gage 13, while a discharge pipe 14.18 connected to the opposite end of the tank 10 and associated with a feed or pipe line 15 and controlled by a shutoff valve 16. All of the above is of the usual and well known construction and forms no part of thii present application for Letters Patentbpt is merely/shown'andcoupled with my in \ention in bringing forward the novel advantages of the above entitled invention'in the operation thereof.
The invention resides in the provision of a tubular burner or generating chamber 17 having the outer end of the feed orjpipe line 10 extending through a. sleeve of clamp 18 secured to the under sides thereof while the remainder of the feed or pipe line'15 is then extended within the forward end portion of the burner or generating chamliier V 17 and forming a plurality of coils 19 which are arranged in spaced parallel relation while the outer free end of the feed 'orpipe line 15 extends rearwardly through the re mainder of the burner or generating chamber 17 and is connected to a coupling 20 formed upon the lower end of an inlet ste n having a. jet 23 connected to theupper end thereof and arranged centrally' and in juxtaposition with respect to the inner end of the burner or generating chamber 17. he clearly illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawings the generating chamber 17 is set at an inclination upon the forward offset end portion of the feed or pipe line 15 whereby the nei' essity of bending over in theapplicatioii of the member 17 is obliterated. Arranged between the connecting end portions of the feed or pipe line 15 with the coupling 20 a strainer 2i which is held ass therewith through the instrumentality of a packing washer 25 and gland 26, in order that such extraneous matter as contained in the fuel passing from the tank or reservoir 10 and the casing crust upon the hereof the a feed or pipe line 15 will be collected therein and hence no clogging of the jet 23 will occur. The jet 28 has included therein large and small interconnecting bores 27 and 28 which are adapted to receive the threaded portion 29 of a needle valve plug therein in order that the discharge of the fuel therethrough may be regulated.
i It will thus be noted from the foregoing description and accompanying drawings that after the tank or reservoir has been filled with some suitable fuel in the form of kerosene or gasoline and a predetermined pressure of air has been forced within the tank or reservoir 10 though the air inlet valve 12 as registering upon the gage 13, that the said contents of the tank 10 will be forced through the feed or pipe line 15 and into the jet 28 and which may be sprayed or discharged from the restricted outlet or bore 28 and when lit will have its blaze deflected outwardly and within the tubular burner or generating chamber 17 and against the coiled portions 19 of the pipe or feed line 15 which will in turn so heat the pipe as to vaporize the fuel thus forced thercthrough and hence when discharged through the jet 23 will be emitted in the form of a gaseous fuel.
in all such burners as now are in use they are subject to extremes in temperatures, that is, they frequently become overheated or chilled for successful and constant operation and in order to overcome this great difliculty I provide a damper or flame deflector in the form of a rod or wire 31 looped upon itself as at 32 upon its outer end to form a finger hold thereon while its inner end forms a relatively large angularly disposed loop which is covered with some heat resisting substance in the form of asbestos as illustrated at 33; and when the said damper or flame deflector is moved into the position as clearly illustrated in Figure 2 of the draw ings it is noted that the flame thus discharged 'roin the jet 23 will play against the said damper or flame deflector in order that the said heat may be taken oil the coiled portions 19 when the said burner is too hot or becomes overheated and yet when starting the said burner in the process of operation the said damper or flame deflector may he moved into the position as clearly illustrated in'Figure 3 of the drawing in order that the flame thus emitted or disharged from the jet 23 may pass through the looped portion thereof and against the coiled portions 19 of the feed or pipe line 15 in order that the said gaseous fuel may thus be generated.
In accomplishing the sliding movement of the rod 31 within the inner end of the tubular burner or generating chamber 17 1 pro vide a pair of bracket arms 3% which are arranged upon the opposite sides of and adjacent the bottom of the tubular burner or generating chamber 17 and which have their inner free ends connected to a vertically disposed bar 35 having a. looped portion 36 upon its upper end for the reception of the rod 31 therein while a lower looped portion 3"? is adapted to receive and to be clamped upon the feed or pipe line 15 in order that the same may be rigidly secured to the under side of the burner or generating chamber 17 It will thus be noted from the foregoing description and accompanying drawings that after this device has been set in operation the said tank or reservoir 10 may he strapped upon the body of a user and the length of feed or pipe line 15 may be made an appropriate length for the height of the re spective user and when the burner or generating chamber 17 is lowered against a cactus plant, not sl'lowin the thorns may be burned therefrom whereaftcr the cattle may eat the same.
Although I have nauxcth described and illustratod my invention as being used for burning the thorns from cactus it is of course understood and manifest that I do not limit myself to merely burning the thorns of cactus but that the same may be utilized for many purposes in destroying vermin, insects and the like,
The invention is susceptible of various chan es in its form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as prop erly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention what is claimed is 1. A burner of the character described comprising a cylindrical casing having the outer end portion of a pipe line coiled within the forward end thereof, a valve jot secured to the outer end of the pipe line and arranged centrally and in spaced relation adjacent the rear end of the casing, a sliding heat resisting flame deflector arranged within the casing in alinement with the coils, means whereby to adjust said deflector relative to the coils, and a force feed reservoir secured to the opposite end of the pipe line.
2. A burner of thecliaractcr described comprising a cylindrical casing lulrin r the outer end of a pipe line coiled within the forward end thereof and extending rear wardly therethrough a valved jet arranged centrally and in spaced relation with respect to the rear cud of the casing; and secured to the outer free end of the pipe line, a sliding flame deflector arranged within the rear portion of the casing in alineinent with the coils for selectively deflecting; the flames from the coiled portions of the pipe line, a rod having one end connected to the deflector and the other end extending out through one end of the using and formed with a handle whereby to adjust said deflector relative to the coils, and a force feed reservoir connected with the opposite end of the pipe line.
