Description
Surface of the flanges 24;, while the corresponding surfaces 26' of the lower lining plates 2l are of conical contour inclined inwardly from the shaft. .By this arrangement of the parts the openings 18 in the end Walls of the casing are substantially closed by the flanged end disks 19, so that-particles of material which work outwardly between theflangcs 24 and thefu plates 2O or which collectupon the flanges 24 are carried around by the rotation of the flanges 9A and are dropped upon the inclined surfaces Q6 of the plates 21 and deflected by them onto the grating 15 and are discharged with the finished product between the grate bars.
By the arrangement of parts above described the machine is adapted to the piilverization of abrasive 5material without danger of dust and dirt escaping, to any injurious extent, from the substantially closed casing, and the journal bearings upon which the rotor is supported are so thorouglily protectedV from the finely divided, material which tends to escape through the smallest crevices of the casing that relatively expensive and delicate ball bearings may be economically used, thereby permitting the `rotor to revolve at extremely highvelocities and with minimum power consumption.
