HOT-WATER BAG.
Application filed August 29, 1925. Serial No. 53,261.
My invention relates to hot water bags, designed as a twofold bag arrangement adapted to be applied to two surfaces of the body, and the main object of my invention is the provision of a novel and improved arrrangement which will possess the desired features of simplicity, convenience and etliciency, and which will be economical in manufacture.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter de scribed and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in which, I
Fig. 1 represents a top plan view of my improved hot water bag; and
Fig. 2 is a cross section taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
The preferred embodiment of my invention, as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, comprises a hot Water bag having two compartments 3 and 4 connected by opposing conduit parts 5 and 6 to allow the water to pass from one compartment to the other. My improved bag is further constructed with a transverse opening 7,10- cated between the compartments 3 and 4 and as well between the conduits 5 and 6, as clearly illustrated in the drawing. The transverse opening 7 is of such dimension that the head of a person who desires to utilize the bag may be passed therethrough so that the conduit parts 5 and 6 will reston the shoulders of the wearer, with one of the compartments resting upon the chest and the other of the compartments resting upon the back of the wearer. While the bag is preferably made of rubber, it may be produced from any materia-lsuitable for the provision of watertight compartments 3 and 4 with their connecting water-tight conduits 5 and 6.
The bag is suitably provided with a filling opening 8, which is preferably located in one of the water pipe conduits, herein shown to be the conduit 5. The filling opening is threaded in the usual way and is closed by a screw-threaded stopper 9. The filling opening and stopper therefor, thus located on one of the conduits, bring these parts on one of the shoulders when the bag is applied over the head and leaves the compartments 8 and t entirely free of these annoying project-ions.
For securing the bag in position upon the person of the wearer, the compartment 3 is provided with fastening means in the form of projecting .strap members 10, while the other compartment 4 is provided with cooperating fastening members in the form of buckles 11. Nhen the bag is applied over the head of the wearer, these cooperating fastening members extend across the sides of the person of the wearer.
The bag, thus constructed, may also be placed to advantage over the abdomen and over the kidneys; and in order to connect it about the body of the wearer in this position, one of the compartments herein shown as compartment 3 is provided with fastening means in the form of a strap 12 while the compartment l is provided with cooperative fastening means in the form of a buckle 13. For those suffering from headache, toothache, earache or other head troubles, the bag may also be used to advantage, since one compartment may be applied to one side of the head while the other compartment is applied to the opposite side of the head. Many other usees of this novel two-fold bag construction will readily suggest them selves.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but
desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A water bag construction comprising sides forming confining walls for two main hollow sections and two narrow hollow necks connecting said main sections, there being a central space bounded by the free unobstructed walls of the main sections and the narrow necks said narrow necks being continuous of the walls forming the sections and providing passageways between said main sections at opposite sides of said central space, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this Specification.
TORAN BLUNT.
