BUCKLE.
Application inea June 3,l 1925. seriai No. 34,669.
This invention relates to a buckle, the general object of the invention being'to provide a buckle which will hold the belt or strap against slipping after the parts are properly adjusted, and which will render unnecessary the punching of holes in the belt or strap.
Another object of the invention is to so form the parts that the belt can be easily and quickly unfastened when desired.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the i combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in" the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, ref` erence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Y Figure l is a perspective view of the improved buckle. l a
Figure 2 is a lview showing the device 1n use.
Figure 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Figure 2. l f
In these views, lindicates the side pieces of the buckle, 2 the end piece which'is rounded to receive the looped end of the belt A which is permanently fastened to the buckle and 3 indicates a plate which fastens the opposite ends of the side piecestogether. Thisr plate is slightly inclined from the horizont-al and is located adjacent one edge of the buckle frame. The front part of the frame or that part to which the plate 3 is attached,`
7 for penetrating the tongue or loose end of l the belt when the same is placed in the buckle. The tongueor'loose end of the belt is passed along the outer face of the plate 8 and is then looped and passed back along the the belt against slipping.l
the bar moved outwardly/so that it willrei lease the tongue andA then the tongueA can be pulled from the buckle.
From ythe foregoing, it will be seen that I have produced a buckle of a very simpley construction and one which will rmly hold It also renders nnecessary the punching of holes in the elt. v
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel featuresof my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I mayV make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the Several parts, provided such changes fall within thev scope of the appended claim. y Y What I claim is p A belt buckle of the character described comprising parallel side portions having reduced ends,'a rounded end piece connecting the reduced ends and adapted to have one end of a belt 'secured thereto, an inclined plate disposed between the opposite ends of said side portions whichare provided with inclined slots disposed above said plate, a bar having reduced end portions slidably mounted within said slots, said belt havingl its free end looped about said plate and said plate and slots being arranged in converging relation with respect to eachother in a direction toward the rounded end piece, and penetrating points formed on the under face of lsaid bar to grip the part of the belt looped about said plate.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature. WILLIAM LOREN DAVIS.
