BASEBALL GLOVE.

My invention relatesto gloves such as are used in playing baseb all, and in the following description and claims, I use the term "love as a generlc term including all types of gloves or mitts, having one or more digit casings separate from other digit casings or from the rest of the hand.

The lining and cushioning means of the thumb pocket is constructed in a man-' ner well known to those skilled in the art, but in order to join the outer thumb casing 15 and the outer forefinger casing 14 to edge near the outline of the finger pocket turned in and sewed with the seam of the sald finger pocket as at 17, and the ,,other I edges are also stitched firmly to said finger pocket as at .18. The thong 24 is passed in at the aperture 19 between the tab 38. and the finger casing, thence under the tab and out the aperture 20, thence over the surface ofthe tab 38 into aperture 21 and out aperture 22, the thong being drawn through said tab until its ends are approximately equal.

The tubular leather casing 16 is formed of a rectangular piece of leather, by simply folding over the two ends equally to meet in the center at 33, and stitching along each of the adjacent abutting edges as at 34 and 35 through both the said edges and the main portion of the rectangular piece of leather, thus forming a Hat tubular leather member, having two tubular chambersiifi and 37, extending therethrough forthe parts ofthe thong 23 and 24 respectively.

Before attaching the ends of the thong to the thumb tab 25, these ends are passed through the chambers 36 and 37, after which the thong is fixed to tab 25 as described.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that my invention is not limited to use in joining thumb and forefinger of gloves alone, but may be used on mitts of all kinds and between other fingers when it is desired to connect the same.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred formation of construction for carrying my invention into efiect, this is of many modifications without departing from the spirit of the invention, an I do not wish to be limited to the precise details of the construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of all advantages within the scope of the ap ended claims.

What I claim as new an desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. In a hand protecting covering having separate casings for certain digits, means for connecting said casings comprisin spaced ,tension members -'fastened to sai casings, and flat means supported by said tension members between the same.

2. In a hand protecting covering having for connecting said casings comprising substantially parallel tension members fastened to said casings. said members being encased in a relatively fiat leather casing.

In a baseball glove, means for connecting the outer thumb and forefinger casings, comprising leather pieces having their peripheries sewed on the exterior of said casings, said pieces having a plurality of holes, a leather thong passing through a plurality of holes in each piece, and having its ends joined to form spaced tension members connecting said casings, and a flat leather piece folded and sewed to form a tubular leather casing about said tension members.

7.
