SHOE OVERALL.
Application filed September 9, 1926. Serial No. 134,356.
This invention relates to a shoe protector and its special object is to prevent the uppers and the finished portion of the heels of shoes fromv lbeing scuffed up when driving an automobile.
It will be understood by those persons who have driven the ordinary automobile that certain of the operations are carried out by pressing the feet upon certain pedals,
and when the machine is running along the foot is ordinarily placed either upon the accelerator or near the other pedals, and the tendency is to accidentally scuff either the side portion of the uppers, or the back portion of the uppers above the solid heel.
The present invention consists of a cover for the toe portionof the shoe anda 'secondary cover for the back of the heel and the heel. portion of the shoe upper, elastic tapes connect the toe cover with the heel cover and elastic tapes connect the sides of the heel cover so that with only two or three sizes practically all sizesof shoes may be covered. v Other objects of the invention will be apparent as the description proceeds. An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numeral is. applied to they same portion throughout the several figures of the drawings and of which there maybe modifications.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the protector as it appears applied to a shoe,
Figure 2 is a prospectiveview of the protector above, and I Figure 8 is a bottom plan view of the 46 protector showing a re-ififorcing pad used on the sole of one form of the protector.
The numeral 1 indicates a felt or leather toe covering. This is out like an ordinary slipperv to extend under the shoe and over a portion of the toe, there being a toe seam at 2 to hold the protector in the proper shape. At the back there is the heel and upper cover 3, which passes around the back of the heel and around the back of the upper of the shoe, two portions being cut in a V shape at, each side as indicated at lto allow the protector to be applied to shoes side.
the heel, or the back portion of having high or low heels. Two tapes 5 and 6 made of elastic material connectthe toe cover 1 with the heel cover 3 on one side, while two elastic tapes 7 and 8 connect the toe portion and'heel portion at the other The front of both heel portions are con nected by means of the two elastic tapes 9 and 10, so that when the protector is placed upon the shoe the only exposed porti on is the lower portion of the heel as indicated at 11 in Figure 1." s.
In order to give the toe coverbetter wearing qualities it may have a circular pad 13 secured thereto as shown in Figure 3.
It will be seen that to completely protect the shoe it is necessary to have something over-the top of the toe, and also over the entire heel portion of the shoe, since the heel of the shoe and the shoe upper at the United States is as follows, but modifications may be made in carrying out the-invention as-shown 111 the drawing, and in the above particularly described form thereof, within the purview of the annexed claims:
I 1. A shoe protector for automobile drivers comprising a toe covering and a heel. covering, elastic tapes connecting the toe covering and the heel covering at each side of the shoe, and other elastic tapes connecting the heel covering at its front edges whereby the heel covering is held in place on the shoe.
2. A shoe protector for automobile drivers comprising a toe covering adapted to cover the shoe to the instep, a heel covering split at the sides .to permit a movement of the I desire to secure by Letters Patent of the i v upper portions thereof with respect to the lower portion thereof to enable the covering to fit different size shoes, and elastic tapes connecting the toe and heel portions, and other elastic tapes connecting the front edges of the heel portion at the front ofthe heel.
In testimony, whereof l have hereunto set my hand this 2nd day of September, A. D. 1926.
I rnssm Annssnse.
