'Ihe invention relates to footwear and more especially to a shoe. Y

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a shoe, especially the low type, wherein the vamp at the top thereof has arranged therewith a cushion or pad, the same being so disposed as to not bite into the foot of a wearer of the shoe and at the same time lending comfort to such wearer particularly at the top of the upper throughout the vamp area of said shoe and thus preventing the toes wedging into the toe portion of the shoe, particularly with the high heel type. Another object of the invention is the provision of a shoe of this character, wherein the pad is of l5 a particular construction and is held mounted in the shoe in a particular manner so as to assure wearing comfort and eliminating binding at the vamp which results in the bruising of the foot of a wearer or discomfort, especially in high heel pumps or other low shoes. t

A further object of the invention is the provision of a shoe of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eicient in its purpose, strong, durable, presenting a neat appearance, and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

Figure 4 is a plan View of the modification' At the vamp of the pump between the leather upper 5 and the lining 6 of said pump is arranged a cushioning pad 'i the opposite faces of which are convexed and said pad is extended to the top edge of the vamp and by reason of its shape this top edge is slightly outwardly disposed to be out of contact with the foot of the wearer of the pump, this being a result of the pressure of the foot of such wearer directly against the thickened portion of the pad l. The pad 'l is held by adhesive in proper position next to the stitching of the lining 6 with the leather upper 5 of the pump.

The pad 'l in its contour is of Substantially crescent shape as is shown in Figure 2 of the drawing so as to follow the contour of the foot of the wearer and in the Wearing of the pump the toes of such wearer will be prevented from becoming wedged in the toe portion of the pump and the upper edge of the upper at the vamp will not cut into or bite the foot when within the pump.

In Figure 3 of the drawing there is shown a slight modification, wherein the cushioning pad 8 is carried upon an adhesive piece 9 which extends marginally entirely about the pad 8 and this adhesive piece is adapted to adhere to the lining Ill of the upper ll of the footwear and such pad 8 is located at the identical place to that of the pad l, it being preferable to have an adhesive l2 cover the face of the pad 8 contacting with the lining l0 of the upper ll so that this pad will be xedly held in its located position.

It is, of course, understood that the pad 'l may be made from any suitable cushioning material, although it is preferable to have the same made from rubber, while the adhesive piece 9 is made from fabric carrying adhesive at one face thereof.

What is claimed is:

In footwear, a vamp having outside and inside sections joined with each other at their uppermost edges, a substantially crescent shaped resilient pad confined between said sections next to the joined edges and having a convexed face formation next to each section for outwardly displacing the upper joined edges of said sections of the vamp, and means for securing the said pad in fixed relation to said sections.
