GLEASON,,OF NORTH BEND, OHIO.
COMBINATION ROLLER AND BRUSHING'DEVICE.
Application file'd'May 25,

An important object of the invention resides in the provision of a contrlvance of this roller and a brush so that both operations may be accomplished simultaneously.
A still further very important ob ect of the invention resides in the provision of a device of this nature, which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, reliable and efficient in use, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it 1s designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in viewas will appear as the descri tion proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of constructlon, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. r In the drawing I Figure '1 is a plan view of the contrivance embodying the features of my invention, and Fig. 2 is alongitudinal section therethrough.
Referring to the drawing in detail, t Wlll be seen that the frame F of this contrivance includes a U-shaped member 5 having plates 6 fixed to its sides as at 7. These plates 6 are provided with laterally extending legs 8 at their extremities. Rollers 9 and 10 are journaled in thelegs 8. A brush head 11 1s provided with cars 12 plvoted to the plates 6 between the member 5 and the roller 10 and includes bristles 13 projecting in close proximity to the roller 10. A handle 14 has apair of brackets 15 fixed to itsend as at 16. These brackets are substantially L- 'shaped in formation, and their extremities are rotatable on a bolt 17 extended through tions of the plates 6.
A pair of rods 18 are attached to the brackets 15 adjacent the handle 14, and are pivotally engaged with the brush head as at 19 so that by swinging the handle, the angle of the bristles 13 t0 the surface overwhich the contrivance is being moved may be varied as desired. The brackets 15 are connected by cross brace 20. a
1926. Serial No. 111,576. I
In using this contrivance, the handle 14 will be disposed as shown in Fig. 2, when the contrivance is being moved upwardly to apply pap-er or=a poster to a' wall orthe like, butas the contrivance is moved downwardly, the handle 14 would be swung inwardly, that is, in a clockwise direction re ferring to Fig. 2', so as to change the angle of the bristles 13, so that they will brush; in the desirable manner, as will be apparent. Y
' It i's thought that the'construction, opera 1 tion, utility and advantages of this invention 1 will now be clearly understood without a'- more detailed description thereof. The present embodiment of th invention has been disclosed in detail merely by way of example, since'in actual practice, it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in thestatement of the invention and the above description. It will be apparent.
that numerous changes in the details of construction, andin the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to wlthout departing from the spirit or scope of the invention ashereinafterclaimed, or sac-,
rificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is z- 1 1. A device of the class described including, in combination, a U-shaped member, a
pair of sides fixed to the ends of the U-- shaped member and having laterally extending legs at their extremities, naled in the legs, brackets ciated with the sides, a handle in the.
rollers jourpivotally assop brackets, a brush pivotally mounted between the sides adjacent one roller, and con-' necting, means between the brackets and the brush whereby thefihandle may be swung to vary the angle of the brush to the surface over which the rollers are being moved.
1 2. A device of the class described .including, in combination, a frame structure, a roller journ'aled in', the frame structure, a brush pivotally mounted inthe frame structure, brackets pivotally mounted on the frame structure, a handle engaged in the brackets, and connecting means between the brackets and the brush whereby the handle may be swung to vary the angle of the brush to the surface over which the roller is being moved. p v j In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
