JAR HOLDER Filed Deb. 17, 1925 Inventor Attorney Patented Mar. 8, 1927.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIQE.

JAR HOLDER.
Application filed December 17, 1925. Serial No. 75,989.
usual closure cap is being applied to or re-' moved therefrom.
A further object is to substantially improve upon and simplify tools ofthis gen eral nature, and in the attainment of this end I have constructed such a jar holder that consists of but two essential members that may be readily connected, or, disconnected for usage or storage purposes respectively.
With the above and other objects in view,
as the nature of the invention will be better understood, the same comprises the novel construct-ion of jar holder hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed. 1
In the drawing wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout both the views,
Figure 1 is a top plan view ofmy improved holder, and I Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Now having particular reference to the drawing, my novel holder constitutes the provision of a pair of relatively wide V-shaped metallic jaws 5 and 6, the opposite sides of which extend outwardly in relatively great converging relation in order that jars A of various diameters may be disposed and held therebetween, the inner surfaces of the jaws being provided with compressible linings 7-7 in order that a proper grip will be secured between the jaws and the jar held thereby.
Certain ends of thejaws are detachably connected through the nediumioi a curved hook 8 being formed at said end oiione or" the aws for detachable engagement through a. slot 8 at the similar end of the other jaw, this connection permitting of a pivotal movement of the jaws with respect to each other;
The opposite ends of the jaws are formed with horizontally extending handles 99 that are curved outwardly transversely,
shown, throughout their length, in order to permit 01"" a comfortable grip in the squeez ing 01 the jaws 5 and 6 around the jar A.
It will thus be seen that great pressure may be provided upon the ar for preventing any slippage of the same while the cap is being applied to or removed therefrom;- It will also be seen that jars of various diameters'may ,be rigidly held by the present holder and that the jaw members may be readily connected or disconnected for a'purpose above mentioned.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and .desire to secure by -Letters Patent is I I I In a jar holder of the class described a pair of relatively wide I-shaped metallic 'jaw members between which ajar may be disposed, anti-slipping lining secured upon the inner faces of said jaws, means at one endof the jaws whereby the same may be detachably pivoted together, said means comprising a hook formed on one jaw mem her and adapted for engagementwithin a slot formed within the end of the other jaw member, the other ends of the jaw terminat ing in horizontally extending handles, said handles being curved transversely throughout their length.
In testimony whereofI afiix my signature.
CHARLES J. MAY.
