DISPLAY STAND.
Application led November 24, 1925.
This invention relates to improvements in store furniture, and is more particularly adapted to a display stand for displaying merchandise put up in package form. One of the important-objects of the present invention is to provide a display stand which includes a base, and an upwardly eX- tending rod associated therewith, the upper end ofthe rod being pointed to facilitate the placing of the packages of merchandise to be displayed on the rod, it being understood of course that the packages are provided wit-h suitable eyelets to permit the same to be placed on the rod and arrange a number of packages in superposed relation.
il further object is to provide a display stand of the above mentioned character which is particularly adapted to be used in supporting and displaying `packages which are made of waxed or glazed paper to contain merchandise which is oiled or buttered or prepared in oil or butter, such as potato chips, salted peanuts, etc., which packages by reason of the slickness of the paper will not readily lend themselves to stacking or piling, and also to be used in supporting and displaying packages which by reason of their irregular shape do not lend themselves being sealed and provided with suitable eyelets in the sealed portions thereof whereby the packages are placed on the upstanding rod of the stand as well as being easily removed therefrom.
A further object is to provide a display stand of the above mentioned character which is particularly adapted to be used in supporting and displaying packages which are formed of transparent material to enable the contents thereof to be readily visible, the packages being sealed and provided with suitable eyelets in the sealed portions thereof whereby the packages may be easily placed on. the upstanding rod of the stand,
as well as being easily removed therefrom.
A still further object is to provide a dis play stand of the above mentioned character which is simple in construction, inexpensive, strong, and durable and further well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent during the course of the following description taken in connnection with thel accompanying drawing.
readily to piling or stacking, such packages Serial No. 71,126.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application and 1n which like numerals ldesignate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the dis play stand embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a top plan view, and
Figure 3 is a side elevation of one of the packages which is adapted to be supported and displayed on the stand.
In the drawing wherein for the purpose 0f illustration is shown the preferred em-` baseat diametrically opposite points in the manner as clearly illustrated in the drawing. An elongated rod or spindle 3 extends upwardly from the central portion of the circular base and has its lower end brazed or soldered to the intermediate portion of the brace rod 2. This spindle is of a suitable length, and if desired, the upper end thereof may be pointed. rlhe purpose of the aforementioned spindle willl be hereinafter,
more fully described.
For the purpose of bracing and further support-ing the spindle in a rigid vertical posit-ion, there is provided the additional brace rods 4, 5, and 6 respectvely. Each of the additional brace rods is of a length greater than the first mentioned brace rod 2, and as is more clearly illustrated in Figure 1, each of these rods is bent at its intermediate portions so that the ends thereof are arranged in divergent relation, and the free ends of each of these last mentioned bracing rods are secured at diametrically opposite points to the ring or circular base 1 by soldering or brazing the same thereto. The additional brace rods are preferably arranged at points equidistant from each other as is more clearly illustrated in Figure 2 and preferably the additional brace rods are placed sixty degrees apart 0n the circularV base.
The bent portions of the several brace rods 4, 5, and 6 are soldered or brazed at their point of intersection to the spindle 3 at a point adjacent the lower end thereof as indicated at 7, andra this manner, tli'ecsp-i-ndle Will be sufficientlybracediso as to` render the saine rigid and capable of receivinga number of packages of; merchandise which are to be displayed and supported on the stand.
A stand of the above mentioned character is particularly adapted for usegrocery stores for displaying merchandise put up ifi transparent pacl'rages sucli as potato chips, cakes, candy, and" the like. the" package is sealedl in the usual manner7 and a suitable outlet such as is shovv'nat 8# eXftendstlirough the' sealed portion 9V of the package IO in) the manner clearly shownA in.A
