This invention pertains to a finishingniachine employed for screening material such as tomatoes or the like for canning purposes, the principal features of the invention being also applicable for use in pulping machines of similar type.
The object of the invention is to improve upon finishing and pulping machines of this general character,` one feature of which is to provide, a baffle plate adjacent the inner Yend of the screen for preventing the incoming material from being thrown toward the middle of the screen and thereby being passed onljv over a portion thereof, the baffle plate forming a part of this invention being such as to cause the incoming material to .be deposited upon the screen adjacentl one end thereof so that it will be passed there over for screening purposes from substantially one endV to the other.
Another feature of the invention resides in the simplified vdischarge end mounting which permits ready removal of the dischargeendplate, the support. thereof as well as the bearing for the rotary shaft and discharge spout being containedl integral in one piece so as to be readily removable and permit the removal of the screen and rotary brushes. l l
Another feature of. the invention resides in the provision of a cleanout connection with the under pan for permitting the same to be cleaned and rinsed, allowing adiscleanout plugs and connections therefor..` Fig. 5 is an end elevation of the discharge end of the machine. In the drawings there is shown a finishing machine having a supporting frame A10 mounted on the legs 11. At the intake end of the machine there is an arched frame 12 having a bearing 13 adapted to receive a` shaft M .on theouter end of which is mounted a driving pulley 15 and idler pulley V16.

At the lowermost end ot' the pan and adjacent the opening 45 there is an opening 48 having' a suitable' fitting 49 for receiving the hose 50 through which washout water may pass to the sewer when the pan is being cleansed. A cap 5l is provided to be screwed into either opening, depending upon whether the machine is 'in use or being washed out.Y This arrangement facilitates the lcleaning ot the machine and pan and rinsing ot the same, allowing a ready escape for the rinsing water'without the necessity s of altering the hose connections.

It may be here noted that the scraping members, herein illustrated as brushes 25, may be in the form oi' paddles, whereby the contents oi' the screen are Vscraped about the inner surace thereoil for screening purposes.
The invention claimed is:
l. In a screening machine of the character described, the combination with a supporting trame, a substantially cylindrical screen, brushing members rotatably mounted within said screen, a shaft for rotating said menibers, and meanstor driving said shaft, ot a unitary end mounting provided therefor, said mounting comprising an end plate adapted to close the dischargeend of said screen and provide a discharge opening for the unscreencd contents thereof, a` support for said mounting adapted to be removably secured to said trame, and a bearing formed on said support for receiving one end ot saidz shaft and supporting the same, whereby upon the removal ot said unitary mounting` the entire discharge end ot' said screen may be opened and the-brushing members and screen removed.
