Description
PATENT Grrrca CHRISTIAN GOOD, OF ARGANUM, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN TABLE-FANS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 161,777, dated April 6, 1875; application filed February 4, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHRISTIAN Goon, of Arcanum, in the county of Darke, and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Table-Fans; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
My invention relates to that class of tablefans which are automaticallyoperated by means of clock machinery; and it consists in the construction of the couplings to which the fans are attached so that the same can be adjusted up or down, or at different inclinations, as desired.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a side elevation of a table-caster with fan attached thereto, embodying my invention.
A represents a table-caster of any suitable construction, on the center post of which is secured a casing, B, containing a clock-work, O. a is a vertical shaft, extending upward from the center of the casing B, and rotated by the clock-work C. On the upper end of the shaft a, and entirely above the case containing the clock-work, is fastened a horizontal bar, D, from each end of which rises a vertical plate, E, and in these plates are a number of holes, .90, of different heights, for the passage of the rods or handles G G of the fans or brushes H.
It is evident that these handles may be adjusted in and out, and also at different heights and at differentinclinations.
The coupling, as constructed, can be used with any table-fan operated automatically by clock machinery.

In combination with a table-fan operated automatically, the coupling described, consisting of the bar D and the perforated end plates E E, for adjusting the fans at Various lengths, heights, and inclinations, substantially as set forth.
