In the accompanymg drawings, Fig. 1 is a side elevation of a .paper making machine embodying my present invention;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.
Referring to the drawings, I show a machine having a pond 1 for the pulp from which the paper is to be made. Also a rotatable cylinder mold 2 on which the paper is to be made, said wheel having its axle 3 mounted on frames 4-4. A pipe or conduit 5 leads from pond or tank 1, underncath cylinder mold 2, and thence up at 5 to a discharge box 6 located at one side of forming cylinder 2, with its discharge side 7 shaped like and close to said forming cylinder. The pulp from pond 1 feeds up in section 5, as shown by arrows, and thence through box 6 to roll 2, and onto the same. Within box 6 there are preferably sloping vanes 88 inclined to surface of cylinder 2, so as to give pulp a sidewise movement to improve fiber arrangement of paper.
A return pipe 10 for pulp leads down from box 6, and a vat or tank 11 is located below cylinder 2 to receive water coming down pipe 10. Another pipe 12 extends up from tank 11 and thence over to pond 1, and a pump 13 pumps the water and pulp from tank 11 back to pond 1.
An apron 14, of felt or like material runs around couch roll 15, whose axle 16 is provided with an adjustable mounting 17 to permit adjustment of roll 15. Felt 14 travels back between press rolls 18-18 in the usual manner, the under side of felt returning around guide rolls 19 and 20, and necessary number of like rolls.
Thus the pulp will flow through box 6 and onto cylinder 2, this cylinder being the usual cylinder mold construction, and will form a film or layer on the latter which becomes the endless sheet of pa er, and this film or layer is carried u war y on and by cylinder 2, so that it ad area to felt 14 and travels along with same, around couch roll 15 and thence between press rolls 18, after which it is separated from felt 14 as usual, and thence through other desired number of press rolls.
It-will be. seen that the pulp is applied to the upper part of roll 2, close to felt 14,
so that pul need be lifted but little before meeting fe t 14, and consequently pulp has little opportunity to slide clown surface of roll 2 and a highly eflicient operation is secured.
It will be understood that changes and modifications may be made without departin from the spirit of the invention.
hat I claim is:
1. A paper makin machine comprising a rotary forming mem r and means for feedmg t e pulp to a part of the exterior surface of said member at an oblique angle relatively to the direction of rotation of the rotary member.
2. A paper making machine comprising a rotar forming cylinder and a discharge box or discharging pulp to the surface of the cylinder, said box having a concave end corresponding to the curvature of the cylinder and extending a substantial distance along the same, said box being provided with inclined vanes for directing the pulp upon the cylinder at an inclinatlon.
3. A paper making machine comprising a rotary forming member, a discharge box for feeding pulp to said member, a pond, a pipe connection between the pond and discharge box, the latter being located to discharge pulp on upper part of rotary member, a'tank below the rotary member, a discharge pipe from discharge box to said tank a connection from said tank to said pond, and a pump for forcing liquid from the tank to the pond.
4. A paper making machine comprising a rotary forming member, a discharge box for feeding pulp to said member, a pond, a
pipe connection between the pond and dis charge box, the latter being located to discharge pulp on u per part of rotary member, and means or directing the flow of pulp to said rotary member at an angle.
5. A paper making machine comprising a rotary member, a discharge box for feeding pulp to said member, a pond, a pipe connection between the pond and discharge box, the latter being located to discharge pulp on upper part of rotary member and being about on a'level with the top of the pond, and a felt running to the top of the rotary member and taking paper film from same.
6. A paper making machine having a rotary forming member, means for feeding pulp to said member, and a drain for draining excess pulp from the forming member,
said drain comprising a downwardly extending pipe arranged in proximity to the area of the forming member to which the pulp is applied.
7. A paper makin machine comprising a rotary forming member, a feed box having a discharge opening for dischar ing pulp to an area of said forming mem er and a downwardly extending drain pipe located at one end of said feed box.
8. A paper makin machine comprising a rotary forming mem er, means for feeding pulp to a portion of the exterior surface of said member, said feeding means being a portion of a circulatory system by which the ulp fed to the cylinder is forced upwardly and the surplus pulp drained downwardly.
9. A paper making machine comprising a rotary forming member, means for feeding pulp to a portion of the exterior surface of said member, said feeding means being a portion of a circulatory system by which the pulp fed to the clyinder is forced upwardly and the surplus pulp drained downwardly, said system including a discharge box having a discharge opening for discharging pulp to the cylinder, an upwardly arranged feed pipe for feeding pulp to said box, and a downwardly extending drain pipe for withdrawing and draining surplus pulp.
10. A paper making machine comprising a rotary forming cylinder, a discharge box for feeding pulp to said cylinder, a pond, a pipe connection between the pond and the discharge box, a tank below the rotar cylinder, a pipe extending from the disc large box down to said tank, a second )ipc extending from the tank to the pon and a pump for circulating liquid through said last mentioned pipe.
