This invention relates to garage buildings of the type havin storage oors located at different levels an connected by ramps over -which the automobiles may be driven under -groiips of superposed storage'loors. The
doors of the two groups are located at; staggered levels and have driveway connections with the spiral ramp at spacedpoints in its height. l

Located at the center of the' building is a continuous, ascending spiral rainp 8. This ramp extends equal distances into thc areas- `ci the'oors 6 and 7 at opposite sides of the central partition and leads t'roin` the ground vfloor upwaijglly through thc Hooi-s6 and 7.
The pitch or inclination of the ramp is suon a that it describes one complete circle within a. distance equal to tliespace between a pair of the super-posed floors 6 or 7. One half of each turn-olf the ramp is located within the area of the 4floors 7 and the other lilalt'- is located within the area of the floors 6. The ramp extends through the floors 6 and 7 at points located upon the diametrical line 6-6 extending at right angles tothe partitionv 5,v
as shown in Fig. 1. `The points of intersection of vthe ramp with the floors 6 and 7 are located'midway between the division plane and the opposite side walls 1- and 2.
Each of the floors 6 is laid out to provide a driveway or corridor space 9 extending parallel to the partition 5 throughout the i length' of the floor. At opposite sides ofthe driveway 9, arrangedl along the side wall 1 and the partition '5, are rows of individual storage spaces 10 for receivin the automobiles. Each floor '7 is similar y laid out to provide a driveway or corridor space 11 and 'Y storage spaces therealong. 'lhe driveways 9 and 11 extend substantially tangential to -the opposite sides of the spiral ramp and cross the ramp at its points of intersection with the floors 6v and 7. The driveways make connection with the spiral ramp over short ramps 12 and 13. The ramps 12 lead downwardly-from the Hoors to the ramp, and the ramps 13 lead upwardly from the floors to the ramp, as shown in Fig. 5. These short ramps are formed so as to merge the floors evenly "with the ramp around the curved .contour thereof and provide driveway con` nections between the floors and the ramp over which the cars .may bedriven. This curbing is omitted at the points where the ramp has its driveway connections with the various floors. What I claim is: 1. A storage building comprising two groups of superposed level floors located at opposite sides of a vertical division plane withthe floors of one group lying in planes intermediate the planes of the floors of the other group; a continuously ascending helical driveway structure of uniform radius and uniform grade throughout rising through both of said groups, mtersected by said ivision plane and intersecting each ioor of each group at a point substantially midway its points of intersection with the division plane, the outer curved edge of the helical driveway being exposed and unobstructed for a material portion of its length adjacent each of said ioor intersections and the oors at opposite sides of the division pla-ne being provided with straight driveways with their inner and outer longitudinal edges extending in directions substantially tangential to the inner and outer curved edges, respectively, of the helical driveway at the points of oor intersection and including between them the said exposed and unobstructed outer curved edge sections of the helical driveway; and ramps connecting said tangential driveways with the said exposed and unobstructed edge sections along the curvature thereof.
