COMBINED IRONING BOARD AND LADDER.

Application filed January 20, 1926. Serial No. 82,576.

This invention contemplates the provision of a combined step ladder and ironing board, wherein each is used singly as a support for the other, the ladder including pivotally mounted members adapted to be arranged in alignment and cooperating with said ladder to support the board, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.

In the drawing forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein:

Figure 1 is a view showing how the ladder is used as a support for theironing board.

Referring to the drawing in detail, 10 indicates an ironing board of ordinary construction, and provided'at its under side with spaced lugs 11 and spaced blocks 12, each of the latter being provided with notches 13' for a purpose to be presently described. Pivoted on the blocks 11 is a step ladder including spaced parallel side members 13 and steps or rungs 14, the latter being pivoted so they may occupy either of the positions illustrated in Figures 1 and 3. All of these steps 14 are connected by eyes 15 to a sliding operating rod 16, whereby all of the steps are simultaneously moved to one or the other of their positions. l/Vhen the rod is moved in one direction the steps are folded as shown in Figure 1 and held in this position by means of a hook-like element 17 passed through an opening in the adjacent end of the rod 16. When the rod is moved in an opposite direction the steps a rod 21, and this rod is adapted to be positioned in the notches 13 of the blocks 12 when the members 19 are swung to the position shown in Figure 1. When the members 20 are arranged in alignment with the members 19 they rest upon the floor, and together with the members 19 and the ladder constitute a support for the ironing board. In combination, a step ladder, an ironing board pivoted at one end of the ladder, spaced blocks secured to the under side of said board and having aligned notches, a pair of members independently pivoted on the opposite sides of the ladder and adapted to be arranged in alignment and used with the ladder as a supportfor said board, a cross rod carried by one of said members and'adapted to be received by'the notches in said blocks, and said last mentioned member being adapted to be arranged at any desired angle with relation to the ladder and singly usedwith said board as a support for said ladder, and both of said members being capable of being folded at opposite sides of the ladder.
