v A'pplimmmn mea rune 3,
The present invention relates to a plumbl Price.
i troWel such as is used by., brick layers and the like, andV has for its prime object 'to provide a combination Withfeatures of a trovvel which has a spirit level incorporated in the handle thereof so that the troWel blade may be placed against several bricks'to ascertain whether or not said bricks and VWall they form part of, are plumb. 3
Another very important object vention is to provide a tool of this nature which is exceedingly compact and convenient in its construction, simple, inexpensive to manufacture, handyq efficient and reliable, and otherwise Well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
yWith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as Will be hereinafter more fully Vdescribed and claimed. y
In the drawingtef Figure l is a plan view of the troWel embodying the features of my invention,
Fig. 2 is an edge elevation, Fig. 3 1s an enlarged det ail section ythrough the end of the handle of the troWel,
and
Fig. 4 is a plan view of said end.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it yWill be seen that the numeral 5 designates the blade of the troWelv which is formed on'the shank VG having the usual extension 7 dis-v posed at an oblique angle to the plane of.
the blade 5. A handle 8 is mounted in any suitable manner on the extension 7 onthe shank 6, and the extremity thereof is pros vided with a recess 9 lhaving a slanting bot' tom 10 which is 'disposed at a right angle to the plane of the blade 5.
A spirit level ll is mountedin the krecess 192e.V Serin No. 113,454.
brick layer mays also, placeV the bottom face f t of the blade 5 against severalbricks and by reading the spirit level l1 may ascertain Whether or not said bricks are plumb. Obviously, a tool of this naturevis much more handy than' an ordinary plumb level, vbecause the spirit level itself is ydisposed a v spaced distance from the Wall Where it may be easily and conveniently read and further- -more the handle may be steadily grasped in the hand While the blade 5 is lapplied to the ',Wall, and the spirit level may be conveniently and accurately read.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new is f 1. A tool of the class described including ablade having a shank extending therefrom at an obtuse angle thereto, a handle on the recess, the bottom ofivhich is disposed at a rightangle to the plane of the blade, and
a S'Piritrlevel mounted'in thel 'recess on the i n bottom thereof.
2. A tool of the class described including a blade having a shank extending therefrom at an obtuse angle thereto, a handle on 'the shank and provided in its extremity with a rece-sarthe bottom of which is disposed at Aa right angle to the plane of the blade, a
spirit level mounted -'in they recess on the v shank and provided in its extremity Withva I bottom thereof, -a transparency over the recess and a flanged sleeve for holding said transparency onthe handle. In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
GEORGE vKUHAR.
