AUEE-OMOBILE. B BCEL Hammet- Y 'lipplication filed September This invention relates to an improvement inan automobile parcel hammock, and more particularly to a construction of. such a hammock which will readily adapt itself to be supported in various places about an automobile, as, for example, on the back of the front seat, 01' to the framework of the top. 7
An object of the invention is to provide a suitable construction of a parcel hammock, which will be provided with suitable fastening or attaching means at its opposite ends, whereby the said hammock may be quickly and readily attached to an automobile for holding and supporting packages Other objects will appear as tion proceeds.
V In the accompanying drawings which form a part of my application, 7
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the portion of an automobile shownig one method of attaching my improved parcel hammock to the back ofthe front seatof the automobile;
Figure 2 is a fragmentary perspective view of the rear seat of an automobile, showing a second method ofattachment for my improved parcel hammock, and,
Figure 3 is a plan view illustrating the method of reinforcing the opposite ends of the descripmy hammock and the arrangement of the draw strings therefor.
Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
' may be drawn taut or My improved parcel hammock is provided about its upper edge with a casing 1, preferably formed of a stifi body material, and has slidably fitted therein a draw-string 2, the ends of which are adapted to pass through suitable eyelets adjacent the central portion of the front edge of the casing 1, where they fastened as desired.
The opposite ends of the casing are pro vided with a reinforcing casing 4 which is sewed thereto. A snap fastener 5 and swivel ring 6 are securely held at each end of the reinforcing casing 4 by means of a leather tie or tab 7, which extends on each side of the reinforcing casing 4 and is held thereto by means of the rivets 8 and 9. The draw-string 2 passes out from the casing 1 at each end, at the opposite sides of the reinforcing casing 4 through the eyelets '10,

and extends through the eyelet 8, in such a manner that the string may be shifted or drawn as desired.
This construction is identical at either end of the hammock, and a screw eye 11 V and ring 12 are provided for attachment to the rear of the front, seat 13 of an automoblie and adjacent each side thereof, so that the said snap fasteners 5 may be engaged and snap over the rings 12, thereby to support the said hammock; 5
It may also be desired to attach the hammock to the robe rail 14 of the automobile, and in this event, suitable straps 15 and buckles 16 are provided, and'to which are engaged description it will he hammock may be attached fastened the rings 17 which may be in turn 7 by the snap fasteners 5, it being understood that the straps 15 will be seouter end a screw eye 20 which may be attached to the floor of the automobile for keeping a tension on the hammocln It will be obvious that the tie 19 may be detachably connected with the screw eye 20 so that the hammock may be held as desired, or the tie may 'be entirely disengaged when the hammock is to be supported by the frame work of the top of the automobile.
Many minor changes'in detail of construction maybe resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described 'my Ynvention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
1. An automobile parcel hammock comprising a casing, a draw string therein, a mesh body portion supported by said casing, a reinforcing casing said first mentioned casing at the opposite to said casings.
v2. An automobile positioned over i V parcel hammock comprising a casing, a draw string therein, a
iesh body portion-supported by said casing, avrelnforoing casing secured to said first'mentioned easingat the opposite ends thereof, attaching means supported at the to said attaching means,
3. An automobile parcel hammock, coinprising a casing, a constricting means there in, a mesh body portion supported by said casing, a reinforcin casing positioned over said first mentioned ends thereof, and attaching means secured to said casings. I In testimony whereof I'afliX my signature JESSE E. 'MoGEE.
