Another object of my invention is'the provision of a hat or cap which can be easily adjusted or fitted to the head and prove a most useful article for "male or female use, which can be made ofany suitable material and which can befolded to occupy a very small amount of'space to enable carrying in the pocket I if desired.
Another object of my invention is the provition of head covering which will fit flat upon the head and holdthe hair in proper posiadjusted to suit the size of the head, which will afford the necessary protection while allowing proper ventilation, which can be 'easily transported and manufactured at a very small price, andwhich' generally in every respect will produce an article which will fill a long felt want in a perfect manner.
With these objects in view my invention consists of a head covering embodying novel features of construction and arrangement of parts. substantially'as described and claimed herein. and as shown in the drawing, wherein Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a head. covering constructed. in accordance with and embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 represents a. plan view of the strip or blank from which the main or crown portion of my covering is produced, showing the manner of slitting the material, and
Fig. 3 represents a similar view with parts of the slitted portion of the blank being extended to illustratehow the manner of slitting produces the sections which form the crown of the hator cap.
In carrying my invention into effect I use a blank or strip of leather or other suitable flat material which is slitted at A, B and C, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, which provides the upper ends D. which are secured to the top caps E. the intermediate loops F, which are connected and strengthened by the infersections G, and the lower ends H, which are secured to the head band J, which head band may if desired be provided with an ad ner described provides the open crownvportion composed of the upper loops M, the central loops N, and thelower loops 0, which when connected to the cap pieces and band produces a crown which will completely fit the headv and retain the hair in proper position while providing a very lighthead covering which will insure comfort and ease tovthe wearer. J
The head coverin can be used advantageously by male or female and is preferably made from a flat blank to fit flat and smooth upon the head and the intersecting connection is sufiicient to produce the necessary strength to insure strength and durability and retention of the hat in proper form.
The advantages of my head covering will be readily understood and appreciated by all persons desiring an article of this character and it will be apparent that the covering can be made of any suitable material and in any color described, can be easily packed and transported and folded to be readily carried in a pocket, and can be produced at such a. low price as to make,it use a practical necessity where a light, comfortable head covering of this character is desired.
The hat or cap in accordance with my improvement may be made of any suitable mafworkers, and in fact for any pemon male or female requiring a light, cool, comfortable head covering which will have a-neat appearance and confine the hair and prevent it from falling over the eyes.
If desired the head covering may provided with a visor or band as may be found 7 desirable and convenient. a
I claim! I 1. A head conforming structure, consisting of a strip of suitable material provided) with upper and lower slits and intermediate loops, the upper' ends of the loops being drawn together and secured and the lower sisting of a strip of suitable material provided with upper and lower slits and" intermediate loops, the upper ends of the loops being drawn together, a cap secured to and connecting said ends, the lower ends of said 10 loops being spaced apart, and a head fitting b'andsecured to said lower" ends.
3. A head conforming, structure, consisting of a strip of suitable material slitted to provide upper and lower slits and intermediate loops, a cap securing the upper ends of said loops in close relation, a band secured to the lower spaced ends of the loops and adapted to fit the head, and means to fasten the opposing ends of the strip, the
whole forming an open head fitting crown. 2
