Instead of the asphalt other bitumens may be used as for instance gilsonite. The material prepared by the above formula may be used in the ordinary n'ianner in the laying of roofs and has the Application filed June 14, 1923.

advantage not only of rendering the roof non-inflammable, thereby protecting the building upon which it is used from lire but it will reduce the fire hazards of the places where it is stored. If desired the material may be made an ingredient of the prepared roofing made of asphalt and felt Which is in common use thereby rendering the same fire proof.
Minor changes may be made in the proportion of parts and known equivalents may be substituted for some of the ingredients named Without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. A fire proof roofing material, comprising, in combination, asphalt, rosin, linseed oil, powdered charcoal bores; ammonium sulphate, in proportions to produce a fireproof roofing material.
2. A lire proof roofing materiah comprising in coniibination, asphalt parts, rosin 10 parts, drying oil 15 parts, Wood charcoal 10 parts, bore 12% parts, ammonium sulphate 121/; parts.
