This invention relates to that type of scraper, with which, eatable substances, such as batter, dough, grease. etc. maybe removed from a range, cooking plate, etc.
An object of my inventionis to provide a novel scraper, in which the particles as they are removed will be prevented from falling onto thecleaned part of the stove invention.
Figure 1' is a bottom" plan view of scraper.
Fig. 2 isa side elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is. a side'view of a modified form of scraping bladeif Fig. 4 is a side view'ofstill another form of scraping blade. I
Fig. 5 is a sectional view taken. on line x5, Fig. 2.
Fig. R is a fragmentary top plan vlew of. my scraper. I
My scraper 1 comprises a handle ofany desirable material either metal or wood and has integrally formed therewith a wide jaw portion '3 which hasa transversesaw' slot. 4' formed therein adapted to receive,
amet'allic blade 5, of approximately the same width as the jaw. This bla'demay have a square edge 6 as shown in Fig. 2, or
:pointed'edge 6t as in Fig. 4.-
an angular cutedge 6 as in Fig. 3,
-A shield v7' ismounted onthe top of the jaw 3, and is preferably ter ed of metal,
This
such as spring steel or sheet iron.
shield is curved upwardly as at 8 and thence downwardly to the ed e .9, which is'curled or rolled upwardlyto orm -a bead and such rolled edge 9 extends beyond the lower or outeredge 6 of the blade 5.

material of the jaw 3 between the slot 4; i
and the upper'face of said jaw, and the edges 6, 9 are spaced apart approximately the same distance as t-hesecui'ed ends.
Two or more bolts 10 extend through the jaw 3, blade 5 and the clamp bar a, and wing nuts 11 screwed onto the bolts 10 draw the bar or against theend of the shield 7, which is insertedbetween the jaw 3 and the bar a, as shown in Fig. 2, and thereby securely holds said shield and blade in position. By removing the Wing nuts 11 the bolts 10 may be removed and the b.1adej5 replaced or repaired or interchanged as theca'se may be.
In use the blade 5 is passed over the surface of the range, plate, etc., toremove par- The particles as they'leave the pointof the blade 5 are prevented from flying away from the area already cleaned and onto other articles that maybe on the surface cleaned, and are hands or arms of the person using the scraper. ' That is, the particles as they are removed by the blade .6 will hit against theishield' and will be deflected downwardly again into the path of the blade, to be collected thereon. The extending and curved end 9 will also- ,prevent the shield from gouging. into the range'or plate top, if during the operation of the scraper the 'shield should come into. engagement with said top.
