IMPROVEMENT IN AWNNGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 160,973, dated March 16, 1875; application led December 3, 1874.
To all whom it muy concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES J. TEMPER, of Indianapolis, county of Marion, State of Indiana, have invented an Improvement in Window-Awnings, of which the following is a specification:
The nature and object of the invention will be fully understood from the following general description and the annexed drawings.
Figure l is a side view of the device; Fig. 2, a sectional view-of the same Figs. 3 and 4, detailedviews of parts of the same.
Theloop or bow f n j' consists of seven pieces, which are hinged together atf, h, n, n, h, and f, as shown in the drawing. The eyes j' and fare adapted to the rod c, one end of which rod rests in a suitable orifice in the strip d. The other end fastens with a screw at the bottom of the window-frame. There are two of these rods, one at each side of the window. Upon these, by the eyes f and f, is hung the bow j' n n j@ the side n 'n being supported by a, the cloth of the awning., yWhen it is in the position shown in Figs. l, 2, and 8, the arm f 7a u is held rigidly by the clasp l. Then it may be raised and lowered, as any window-awning, by the cord b. If the sun'shines in at the window sidewise that side of the awning may be brought close to the window by folding up one of the bars f 7c u, as shown in Fig. 4. Then the sunshine will be excluded from that side of the window, while the other side is open, very much as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. I claim- In a window-awning, the loop or bowf n n f, constructed with the T-swivels m and m, the clasps Zand l, the eyes f and f, and hinged, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
