This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements a rein buckle and has for its primary object the provision of a simple and inexpensive form of buckle which will securely hold the rein in adjust ed position and which will also permit ready adjustment of the rein lines.
The invention has for a further object the provision of a rein buckle of the character stated which is of such construction and operation that the rein line may be readily moved through one of the buckle sections in one direction and will be prevented by the same from moving therethrough in the other direction, the rein lines working through the buckle sections in opposite di-' rections and the buckle sections being pivoted to one another in such a manner that the rein lines lie in parallel relation with the buckle sections in alignment with one another.

Referring more in detail to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughtheseveral views, it is to be noted that the buckle includes the buckle sections 7 and 8 which are in the form of channel members and piv otally connected by the pivot member 9 extending through the side flanges of the section 7 at one upper corner thereof and through the turned back extension 10 at ,ally -mounted therein means of the tongues 12 extending therefrom in pairs and projecting through the openings 13 provided for this purpose in the side flanges 7" 0f the buckle section 7. each member 11 is extended at an angle and;
providedwith teeth adapted to grip into the ends of the rein 15 extended'through the buckle section 7 and resting on the flat face thereof, as shown clearly in the. drawings. It will also be seen from the drawings that the tongues 12 are located near the edge 1 1 of each member 11 and the other edge 16 of each member 11 is extended at a right angle to normally rest on the rein 15.
The other end of the rein, indicated at 17, is similarly held in adjusted position in the buckle section 8. This buckle section 8 is constructed practically the same as the buckle section 7 and has pivoted therein rein gripping members. 18 corresponding to the members 11. Thetongues 19 ofthe mem bers 18 are extended through openings 23 in the side flanges 8 of the buckle section 8, as shown clearly in Figs. 1 and '2. It will also be seen from the drawings that the angularly ext-ending edges 20 of the members 18 have teeth engaging in the rein 17 to prevent movement-cf the'same in one direction through the buckle section 8, after adjustment of the same. 1 The other edges 21 of the members 18 are extended at sub stantially right angles to the main portions of the members 18 and rest on the rein- '17.
