Description

T. E. DANSBY v TOY Filed April 29, 1926 Patented Nov. 9, 1926.
UNITED STATES THOMAS E. DANSBY, OF PINE BLUFF, ARKANSAS.
TOY.
Application filed April 29, 1926. Serial No. 105,601.
This invention relates to toys of that character wherein a body is "formed with an aperture and wherein there is a ball attached to an elastic cord, the other end of the cord being attached to the body adjacent the aperture so that when the cord is stretched and released, the elastic will cause the ball to be projected through the aperture.
The general object of the invention is to provide a game of this character in which the body is in the form of a circular object supported upon a handle and in which there are two balls each carried upon one extremity of an elastic cord, this cord passing through a hole in the body or the target, as it will be hereafter called, whereby the elastic may be drawn through one aperture in the body until the ball prevents further movement and then the elastic stretched and the ball on the other end oi the elastic projected through the hole in the target,
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved toy;
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view Referring to these drawings 10 designates a body which is illustrated as being approximately circular but may be of anydesired form and size, this body being mounted upon a handle 11. This handle may be made part of the body. Extending through an aperture 12 in the body is an elastic cord 13 having attached to its opposite ends the balls 1e and 15.
The object oi the game is, of course, to project one of the balls through the (6311" tral aperture 16 in the body. To this end one of the balls is taken hold of and pulled until the ball at the other end bears against the face of the body. The elastic is then stretched and when sufiiciently stretched is released and an endeavor is made by the thereof; 7
player to cause the ball to be carried through the opening 16. The elastic may be then again stretched by pulling upon the same ball to cause the ball to pass back again to its own proper side. these balls may be shot through the hole in the target from both sides or it the player prefers, one ball can be shot through from a side, then drawn back through by the other ball on the other end of the rubber cord and then this other ball shot through, thus giving the player a choice of several diiierent ways of playing the game and greatly enhancing its pleasure, or two people may play the game simultaneously or alternately by holding or placing the target between them. The rubber cord may be embedded within the balls or may extend through the balls and the extremity of the rubber knotted or otherwise fastened. The body 10 may be of wood, papier-mach-, or candy and the balls may be of any suitable material and also might be made of candy, cake or other material. The handle provides means whereby the body may be eaten without causing the fingers to become sticky, and also may be used to fasten the target to a base, pedestal or other suitable fastening.
I do not wish to be limited to any particular design for the body. It may be circular and have the general form of a target or might be formed to simulate a face.
I claim A toy of the character described comprising a body having an aperture therein and having a handle, an elastic cord passing loosely through the body, balls mounted upon the opposite ends of the elastic cord and having a diameter smaller than the aperture in the body, the ends of the elastic cord being fastened in said balls.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
