UNITED STATES PAUL H. STEWART, OF EGAN, GEORGIA.
PIPE HANGER.
Application filed April 14, 1925.
This invention relates to improvements in hangers especially designed for supporting pipe, an object being to provide a hanger which may be conveniently attached to either a ceiling or side wall or the like and adjusted in any direction to suit the position of the pipe.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a pipe hanger which may be adjusted to accommodate pipes of different diameters and to provide for proper horizontal alignment of the pipe.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a pipe hanger which in addition to the above advantages, is simple and durable in construction and easily and quickly adjusted.
l/Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.
The figure in the drawing represents an elevation of my pipe hanger, parts thereof being broken away in illustrated sections Referring to the drawing in detail, the invention as shown comprises a hanger rod indicated generally at 10. In the form of the invention disclosed in the figure of the drawing, this rod is extensible for the purpose of regulating its length and comprises a rod section 11 to one end of which is 35 threadedly attached an extension 12, while an extension 13 is threadedly attached to the opposite end. Lock nuts 14 serve to hold the extensions in adjusted position.
Pivotally secured to the lower end of the hanger rod as indicated at is aloop Serial No 23,097.
17 for the reception of an adjusting screw 18, whereby the loop may be adjustably secured around a pipe 19. The pivotal connection between the sections of the loop and the lower end of the hanger rod also permits of the loop being adjusted laterally to either side of the longitudinal center of the rod.
The upper end of the rod 11 is pivotally connected as shown in 43 to an attaching plate, the latter comprising an outer member 44 and an inner member 45, the said. members being detachably connected by bolts 46 or the like. The member44 is provided with an car 47 which forms a part of the pivotal connection 43, while the member 45 is pivotally attached to a bolt or stud 48, as shown at 49. The stud 48 is threadedly engaged with an anchor plate 50. The pivots 43 and 49 are disposed at right angles with respect to one another so that the position of the hanger may be adjusted as desired.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A pipe hanger comprising a hanger rod, a pipe engaging loop at one end thereof, a sectional attaching plate, means to secure the sections together, means to pivotally attach one end of the hanger rod to one section of the attaching plate, anchoring means and means connecting the other section of the attaching plate to the anchoring means.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
PAUL H. STEWART.
