Description

Nov. 2 1926. 1,605,068
- A. w. RElSER ELECTRIC LAMP FIXTURE Filed Oct. 13. 1924 Patented Nov. 2, 192%.
PATENT @F'i l ALFRED W. REISER, OF TOLED O, OHIG.
ELECTRIC-LAMP FIXTURE.
Application filed October 13, 1924. Serial No. 743,246.
My invention has for its object to provide an exceedingly simple reversible decorative electric lamp globe connector that may be used as a rosette for depending or upright candelabra brackets or for supporting lamp shades in depending or upright positions. The invention thus provides a member that by mere reversal may be used as a decorative means to produce various attractive elec-. tric light furnishings suitable for use in ditferent rooms of a house, such as in halls or main living rooms, according to the lighting arrangements that may be desired and suit able for such rooms.
The invention may be contained in shade and globe connectors of cliflerent forms. To illustrate a practical application of the invention l have selected a connector embodying my invention and shall describe it hereinafter. The connector is illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a side view of a lamp globe showing the decorative connector in position. Fig. 2 illustrates a view of the connector inverted and a globe shad-e connected thereto. Fig. is a view of one side of the connector, and Fig. l is a view of the other side or the connector.
The invention provides a means whereby a decorative rosette commonly used in connection with globe lamps may be utilized for securing decorative globes or shades to enclose the lamp bulb or to enclose or shield from view the other parts of the lamp, such as the lamp socket. The invention thus provides an exceedingly simple decorative part that may be used in connection with candelabra lamps or in connection with lamps having shades and thus may be used as a means for supporting any decorative part above the bulb or around the bulb and in itseli constitutes a part of the decoration of the lamp.
The connector 1 is provided with a flaring decorative flange 2 which may be designed as a reflector to produce different decorative effects of the light proceeding from the bulb of the lamp. it is also provided with a flange 3 having globe or shade securing thumb screws 4:, preferably three in number, for securing any globe or shade or other decorative part either in an upright position above the connector 1 or in a depending position from the connector 1. The connector 1 is also provided with a central threaded opening 5 and the socket 6 of the lamp may be provided with threads "Z around its lower edge for receiving the connector 1. Thus the connector 1 may be threaded on to the socket 6 to position the flange 3 around the socket 6 and the flange 2 above the globe or bulb 8 to act as a reflector, or to give the de sired decorative effects to the lamp. Or, if desired, the connector 1 may be inverted so as to position the flange 3 around the bulb 8, or as in the form of lamp shown in Fig. 2, around the bulb 9, and a hell. shaped globe or shade 10 may be located within the flange 3 and secured by the thumb screws 4. The socket 6 and the bulb 9 may be located in a depending position, as shown in Fig. 2, or the socket and bulb may be located in an upright position. The decorative flange 2 will thus be located. around the socket 6, while the flange 3 will surround the bulb 9. Preferably, the bulb 9 and the socket 6 will be supported by a suitable lamp bracket from below and the bulb 9 will be located in an upright position in order that the decorative flange 2 may present more eiiiectivel the more pronounced decorative side of the flange.
I claim An electric lamp having a threaded socket, a reversible decorative lamp member having a central disc portion located in a plane at right angles to the axis of the lan'ip and having a central threaded. opening for connecting the decorative member to the lamp socket whereby the lamp positioned on either side of the decorative member, a curved flange forming a decorative background to the lamp, a second flange forming a continuation of one edge ot the curved flange and extending tangential to the curved flange and at right angles to the central disc portion of the member, the second flange having a shade connecting screw to connect a shade to the decorative member when the second flange is located on the bulb side of the decorative member.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name to this specification.
ALFRED W. REISER.
