Description
Patented Get. 12, 1926,
isaaiec f intends-filed-aanuary zl;1926;"sr ai' iasaeoi f'" This invention relates to stove pipe an- 1 chors, and more particularly to improve= "half-twists in order to permit theloops to. r be arranged for the reception of the rod,
and the provision of the straps with halftwists is necessary for the reason that the rod is straight.
V The present invention has for one of itsv objects toimprove and simplify the struc-. 2O
,ture described to the end that it will not be necessary to provide the straps with halftwists and to establish such a connection between the rod and straps as to render it impossible for the latter to become cas ually disengaged from the former, and this object is attained by providing the rod with angular portions and engaging the looped ends of the straps with such portions.
'lViththe foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel.
construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in. the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a View in side elevation illustrating the application of a stove pipe anchor embodying the present invention, a
Figure 2 is a sectionalview taken on the plane indicated by the line 22 of Fig ure 1. p
-Figure 8 is a view in endelevation of the applied stove pipe anchor,
Figure 4'is a detail sectional View taken on the plane indicated by theline 44 of Figure 1, and
- F1gures 5 and 6 are detail views 1llus'-- trating the manner in which the sections of the band are detachably connected together.v Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description, and designated in the several views of the accompanying drawing, by similar reference characters. I
In the drawing, 1 designates a fragmentary portion of a chimney, 2 a thimble secured within the stove pipe receiving open- .ing of the chimney, and3 a fragmentary portion of a stove pipe having'an end POSI- tioned in the thimble.
The'a'nchor comprises a rod 4, straps '5, and a band 6. The rod 4, which is positioned in the chimney 1, extends across the thimble 2 and contacts with the inner end 1 thereof. The rod 4 comprises a body portion 4 which has a diametrical arrangement with'respect to the thimble 2, angular portions 4? which extend in opposite directions from the ends of the body portion 4 and are substantially parallel, and terminal portions 4 which extend upwardly from the angular. portions 4 The straps 5 are provided with looped inner ends 5 which embrace or engage with the rod portions 4', and are provided witlrtongues 5* which are rela tively spaced and two of which are engaged With the band 6. The band 6 encircles the stove pipe 3, and is preferably of sectional formation. The sections 6 of the band 6 are provided with slots 6 to permit'them to be inter engaged in the manner shown in Figures .5 and 6. provided with ears 6 for'the reception of a retaining bolt '7. V
The provision of the rod 4 with the angular portions 4 permits the straps 5 to be connected to the rod 4 and extended along op-.
*posite sides of the stove pipe 3 without providing them with half-twists. Furthermore, the manner in which the straps 5 are connected to the rod 4 prevents the latter from The band sections 6* are also.
becoming accidentally detached from the former. After the rod 4 and straps 5 have with a tongue 5" of each strap 5, and the bolt 7 is thence applied to secure the band 6 in place.
It should be understood that the drawing is merely illustrative and does not pretend to give exact proportions; Furthemore, the said drawing is illustrative of a' preferred construction, it being my expectation that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and V scope of my invention.
What is claimed 1s I 1. A stove pipe anchor comprising a rod adapted to be positioned in a chimney across the stove pipe receiving opening thereof and provided with angular portions, straps connected to the angular portions of the rod,
and an element for securing the straps to the stove pipe. I
2. A stove pipe anchor comprising a rod adapted to be positioned in a chimney across the stove pipe receiving opening thereof and provided with oppositely directed angular portions, straps connected to the angular portions of the rod and an element for securing the straps to the stove pipe.
3. A stove pipe anchor comprising a rod 10 adapted to be positoned in a chimney across the stove pipe receiving opening thereof and provided intermediate its ends With parallel portions, straps connected to the angular portions of the rod, and an element for se- 15 curingth'e straps to the stove pipe. In testimony whereof I affiX my signature.
