IMPROVEMENT IN CORNER-CAPS FOR VALISES, &c.

Specification forming part of Leters Patent No. 160,168, dat.d February 23, 1575; application filed December 5, 1874.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE CROUGH, of

the city and State of New York, have invented three surfaces coming together at the angle,A

the leather has been folded in a forni similar to a three-sided pyramid, and the edges joined by a seam running along one of the ilat sides. This seam is liable to rip and the corner to break under the 'concussion and strain to which it is subjected.

My improvement relates to a corner piece or cap for a valise or trunk, made out of one piece of leather without seam, whereby greater strength is obtained, and the angles of the valise, to which such corner-caps are attached by sewing, are protected in the most reliable manner.

The leather to form the corner-cap is cut out in the form of a circle, or nearly so, and saturated with water sufficiently to soften it. The leather is then drawn over orpressed updrying of the leather.

This leather corner-cap, malle of Aone piece -without seam, is a new article ot' manufacture.

I do not claim a metal corner 0r a leather edge binding for trunks, as these have been employed.

I claim as my invention- A leather corner-cap for trunks, valises, and bags, made of a single piece without seam, and molded or pressed into form, substantially as shown and described.
