DISPLAY CASE.

- time. Other objects will appear trom time panels of the case.
to time in the course ot the specification and claims.
I illustrate my invention more or less diagranimatically in the accompanying drawings wherein` Figure l is an elevation;
Figure 2 is a horizontal section; and
Figure 3 is a partial plan view of the bottom member of the case.
Like parts are illustrated by like symbols throughout the specification and drawings.
v Referring to the drawings, A A1 are any suitable end panels or members, which may be provided, it desired, with glass or other translucent material.
B B1 and B2 are the transparent iront i C is any suitable base, and C1 any suitable top member.
rllhe case may be divided into a plurality of separate compartments, herein shown as three, tor exampleby the partitions D and D1. Since it is preferred, in the use ot my cases, for example, for bakery purposes, to prevent the passage of air from one compart ment to another, I may provide any suitable telting or packing D2 D3 at the inner end s of such compartments in order to make ai tight connection with the doors'below described. Any suitable material may be used, but 1 find a relatively thin layer or cushion ot telt to provide a suiciently tight connection.
It will be not-ed that the end panels A A1 are ot the same length, and that the partitions D D1 are somewhat shorter than the end panels.
E is a single track extending from end to end of the case and provided with a plurality of sliding doors E1 and E2 having any suitable telting or packing E3, E4 on the ends, the former abutting against the end panel A and the latter` against the end panel A1 when in closing position. y
G is an outer track extending from end to end ot the case and having on it two sliding door sections G1 and G2. T he tWo sections together form a single door about the same length as the doors E1 E2. vThev may be provided with an overlapping iit'as by the flanges G3 G4 and any suitable felting or packing G5 may be used. GG is any suitable telting or packing on the ends `ot the doors E1 E2 or of the sections G1 G2 the purpose ot'yvhich is to provide a relatively air tight closure, when the doors are all in closing position.
Vhen it is desired to have access to but one compartment at a time the appropriate door or door section is laterally moved .along vthe track E or the track G as. the case vmay be. When it is desired to have simultaneous access to the end compartments the door E1 1s moved to the right and the door E2 to the left, as shown in Figure 2 until their ends meet in the middle of the case. When it is desired to have access' simultaneously to the central compartment and to one ot the end compartments the door to the end compartment is moved until its center is opposite the compartment Dor D1, as thecase may be, and the section G or G1 which does not overlap with the door is moved along the track G. Y
It will be realized that whereas I have illustrated a practical and operative device that nevertheless many changes may be made in the size, shape, number and disposition ot' parts without departing from the spirit ot my invention. I wish my description and drawings to be taken as in a broad sense diagrammatic or illustrative, rather than as limiting me to the specific showing herein made. In particular itwill be realized that whereas I have illustrated a. display case which is separated into a plurality ot' air tight compartments, I do not limit myselt to such structure. Obviously my arrangement of gates may be employed with a` counter which is only partially so divided, or which has no partitions at all.
1. In a display casehaving a pluralityY ot separate compartments, end panels and intermediate partitions, a plurality ot tracks extending from end to end ot the case, a plurality of doors adapted to slide alrng one of said trac-ks, each door being oi substantially the same length as the width of one compartment, 'a pair ot doors sliding along another of said tracks, the effective length of said pair of doors being substantially equal to the Width of one compartment.
2. In a display oase, end panels and front and top members, a plurality of tracks eX- tending from end to end of the case, a plurality of doors adapted to slide along one of said tracks, a pair of doors adapted to slide along another of said tracks, the effective length of said last mentioned pair of doors f being equal to the length of oneof the doors 10 sliding on said irst mentioned track Signed at Chicago, county of Cook. and State of Illinois, this 16th day of June 1925.
