UNDERGARMENT.

The present invention relates to an undergarment, and the principal features of advantage reside in the combination of a closed crotch union suit, form fit in design, with a special fullness in the back, in the front, and at the hips, and with the bottom of the legs open but fastened tight just above the knees, by means of one or more fasteners. Y Y

This garment may be constructed with either bodice or built-up shoulders. As a result of the combination of these features, all of which are now known in the art, a number of new and desirable results are obtained. The looseness at the hips, etc., gives added comfort, whereas the tightness just above the knees, gives the wearer the sensation of having some clothes on. This effect is heightened by the use of a closed crotch, the fasteners providing for emergencies.

In connection with the fullness at the hips, this fullness in the leg provides full accessibility. y

With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described GII y and claimed.

Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that this garment is made up of five segments, or pieces of clot-h of suitable material sewed together. The front segment which is shown to advantage in Fig. 1, is designated generally b y the letter A and includes an upper vportio-n 5 and a pair of front leg portions 6. Slit-s 7 are provided at the waist line of the front segment A extending transversely for a short distance from the center thereof. The leg portions 6 areshaped at their outer side edges to provide a fullness at the hips as is indicated at H.

The outer side edges yof segments B are secured as is indicated at 10 to the outer sides of the front segment A, except at the `lower extremity of the leg portions 6 and 9, where an opening or slit 11 is provided in each; leg andsuitable fastening elements 12 associated therewith. Y

A porti-on of the inner edges of the leg portions 6 and 9 are sewed together as is indicated at 13 starting from the lower ex tremity of the garment and terminating ra distance from the crotch thereof; Substantially triangular shaped segments C are shown sewed to the remaining portions of the inner leg portions 6 and 9, as is indicated at 14 and 15, and these segments C are partially sewed together along the line 16. Particular attentionl is now directed to Figs. 2 and 3Q yIn Fig. 3, it will be seenv that the inner edges of the segments B above the crotch are spaced relatively close together while the edges of the waist portions 8 are spaced rather far apart, so that in stitching these/inner edges together, it is necessary to provide slits 18 so that portions of the segments B at the waist line must be tucked as is indicated at 19 so that the garment will fit snugly about the waist, the inner edges of said segments being sewed together as is indicated at 20 and 21 while the slits 18 are sewed together as is indicated at 22.

Shoulder straps 24 or other equivalent means may be provided at the top of the garment. When a garment has been constructed in accordance with the principles of this invention as explained in detail above, it will be quite apparent that the ldesirable looseness at the hips, etc., is provided to give added comfort as the garment is tightvjust'abore the knees and is closed at thev crotch.
