A further object of my invention is to provide an electrically controlled valve which is simple in construction, durable and thoroughly practical for the purpose in tended.

- In carrying out my invention I make use of an electric motor 1 which is connected to an electric power source 2 through lead wires 3. A manually actuated switch 4 is connected in serieswith one of thelead wires 3 shown in Fi 1.

valve, a cylindrical guide integral with said valve and having openings therein, said. guide slidably disposed in said chamber, a tubular member connected to said valve chamber, a solenoid core piece slidably mounted within the tubular member and being operatively connected to said valve, a solenoid coil disposed about said tubular member, a gas pipe for connecting gas to said tubular member, a pilot light disposed adjacent to said gas burner, and a by-pass connecting said pilot light with said valve chamber at a point above the valve.
