SUPPORT INTENDED FOR HOLDING CLOCKVJ'ORK MOVEMENTS VJ'HEN BEING MOUNTED.
Application filed. June 21, 1924, Serial No.
This invention relates to an improved support for holding clockwork movements during mounting.
An object-of this invention is to hold the pallet plate of the clockwork movement when being mounted by the so called hand mounting.
A further object of this invention is to provide an adjustable gripping device wherein gripping jaws are displaceable into different positions parallel one to the other.
A further object of the invention is to form a device which is simple in construction and easy to manipulate.
One form of construction of the invention is shown as an example in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view in elevation, and
Figure 2 is a plan view.
The jaws 1 and 2 of the support intended, for holding the clock work movements in position when they are being mounted, are connected by a pair of links 3 and 3 pivotally connected to the jaw 1 and to similar links 4 and 1 in turn pivotally mounted on the jaw 2.
lhe jaw 1 is provided with a rod 5 shding in a sleeve 6 fixed to the aw 2. A spring 7 is arranged about the rod 5 and the sleeve 6 said sleeve having one of its ends fixed to the jaw l and the other to the jaw 2.
721,604, and in Switzerland July 21,. 1923.
This spring 7 is a tension spring and tends to bring the jaws 1 and 2 together.
I declare that what I claim is 1. Apparatus for holding clockwork mechanism in position when being mounted, com prising a pair of jaws, telescopic connecting means between said jaws, a tension spring concentric with said connecting means connected to each of said jaws and tending to draw the same together, and toggle links connecting said jaws.
2. Apparatus for holding clockwork mech anism in position when being mounted, co1nprising a pair of jaws, telescopic connecting means between said jaws, a tension spring concentric with said connecting means-connected to each'of said jaws and tending to draw the same together, and toggle links connecting said jaws, claws mounted on said jaws and adapted to hold the pallet plate of a clockwork mechanism.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed my name.
CHARLES CART.
