J. A. GIBSON BATH CLOTH AND INVIGORATOR Filed April 27, 1925 INVENTOR ATTORN EY UNITED STA-res JOHN A. ornsoiv, or
' 3am cLo'rH'ann INVIGORATOR.
' Applioationflled Apri127 1925. Serial No. 26,203.
The principal object of this inventionis to provide a wash cloth which may be used as an ordinary wash cloth or used dry to 1nvigorate the body and which is also formed to hold a piece of, soap so that 1t can be used to apply suds to the body.
A further object of the inventlon 1s to provide the cloth with long straps at its ends so that it can be drawn back and forth across the back and other portions of the body which are difiicult to reach with an ordinary cloth.
Another object of the invention is to form the cloth of hemp fiber or the like so that it will be rough enough to invigorate the body when used dry, but will be soft when wet.
Another object of the invention is to make the cloth of tubular form with flaps at its ends which are provided with fastening means so that a cake of soap can be placed in the cloth and held therein by closing the fla s.
' 'Ihis invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim. I
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which v Figure l is a view of the cloth with the straps extended.
Figure 2 is a view showing the straps folded within the cloth.
Figure 3 is a view showing the cloth folded and with the cake of soap therein.
Figure 4 is a section on line 44 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a view showing how the device can be used on the back.
In these drawings, 1 indicates the body of the device which is preferably formed of woven hemp fabric or the like and is of flat tubular shape. A collar 2 is fastened to each end of the body, preferably as shown in Figure 4, which shows the collar of double' condition, as shown in Figure 5.
thickness, with the end of the bod ing between the extendtwo parts thereo and the three parts sewn together by the stitching 3. Each collar is provided with the parts 4 of a snap fastener, so that the ends'of the device can be closed extension 2' a strap 5, the end of the strap extending to the inner edge of the collar and one of the parts of the fastener may be secured to this.
end. Each strap has a loop 6 at its outer end to form a hand grip.
From the foregoing, it will be seen that the device can be used to increase the circulation of the blood and thus invigorate the body by being drawn over the body in a dry The threads willproduce considerable friction, as the device passes over the body which increases the circulation of the blood and keeps the body in normal condition. When wet, the device can be handled in the same manner to wash the back and other portions of the body which are diflicult to reach with the ordinary wash cloth. If desired, a piece of soap may be placed in the device and the collars closed by the fasteners to hold it therein so that suds can be applied to the body. Figure 3 shows the device with the bands 5 folded within the body and a cake of soap placed in the body and the body folded so that it can be used as a wash cloth. Of course, the device can be used without the soap, if desired. Figure 2'shows the device unfolded and with the band s placed within the body.
It will thus be seen that I have produced a cloth which can be used asan-ordinary wash cloth, a cloth provided with straps for reaching the back and other difficult places and which can be used with or without a cake of soap and which can also be used dry to produce friction. The device can be easily wrung out to free it of water and it will dry very quickly.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several PATENT 7 OFFICE.
