MEANS FOR DISPENSING LENS-CLEANING CLOTHS.

Application filed April 2, 1926. Serial No. 99,228.

The object of our invention is the provision of simple but effective means whereby a single lens cleaning cloth especially adapted to the cleaning and polishing of eyeglass and spectacle lenses may be positively, conveniently and expeditiously separated from the bottom of a pile of such cloths contained in a suitable receptacle, and rendered available for immediate use as hereinafter fully set forth, the invention consisting in the specific construction, combination and arrangement of parts described and claimed, whereby these and other advantageous results are attained.

In the accompanying drawings we illustrate a practical embodiment of the essential features of our invention as incorporated in apparatus for the storage, segregation and delivery of lens cleaning and polishing cloths of the character designated, although we do not limit ourselves to the identical form and construction of component parts shown by way of exemplilication, since changes may be made in minor details, and equivalent mechanical expedients resorted to with like results, and without departing from the spirit and intent of our invention in this re spect.

The casing C, of our dispenser is rectangular in general configuration, its upper portion being formed with a transverse partition C, separating the cloth compartment C from the rear compartment G in which the release plate Fe, is located, the space be low said compartments C, C being for the accommodation of the other operative parts of the device. C is a cover plate for the exclusion of dust and extraneous objects.

The detachment plate D, is slidably supported between guide ways 0, 0, on the sides of the casing C, and isheld normally in retracted position by stops 6, (Z, on its underside contacting With shoulders o, c, at the front of the casing, by means of retractile springs a, a, attached to a cross bar at, on the underside of the detachment plate D, and to fixed points 0 0 on the inner side walls of the casing C, as shown more particularly in Figs. 2 and 3, of the drawings,-said cross bar d, being mounted upon and between brackets (Z (Z and said cross bar cl, also'functioning as the pivotal support for the starter frame S.

A shoulder (F, on the forward part of the detachment plate D, limits the inward thrust of said plate D, by contacting with the front walls of the cloth compartment (1. Said detachment plate D, is formed with a medial transverse delivery slot (Z for the accommodation of the tooth bar 8, of the starter frame S, said tooth bar 8, being rigidly attached to the side members .9, s, of said frame S, as shown more particularly in Fig. 14, of the drawings, and said side members 8, a, being extended rearward beyond the pivotal rod cl, of the frame, to constitute trip arms s 8 which, by condetail taken upon tacting with'fixedtrip shoulders 0 on the lower edge of the partition 0, rock said starter frame S, forward and upward with its tooth bar a, protruding into said transverse slot d in the detachment plate D.

The release plate it, is attachedto and suspended upon a flat spring r, the upper end of which is ri "'lly secured to the partition C, said spring r, tendingnormally to hold the release plate R, in advanced position with its forward edge 9*, under. the rear edge of the lowest cleaning cloth L, as before stated. In this position shoulders r 7 on up release plate R, rest against the lower edg e ot the partition C, and thus limit the forward thrust of said release plate, as shown in Figs. 2 and 10.

What we claim as our invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-

1. Lens cloth dispensing apparatus of the character designated, comprising a cloth containing compartment, a slidable detachment plate arranged in connection therewith and formed with a'transverse delivery slot, spaced apartcloth-supporting shoulders on the front wall of said cloth containing compartment, a slidable release plate adapted to the temporary support of the rear edges of the lens cloths, a starter frame pivotally supported on the underside of said slidable detachment plate and formed with a tooth bar for engagement with the lowest lens cloth in the said containing compartment, and retractile spring means tending constantly to maintain the operative parts in normal relative positions, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.

2. Lens cloth dispensing apparatus of the character designated, comprising a cloth llO C ll

containing compartment, a slidable detachment plate arranged in connection therewith and formed with a transverse delivery slot, spaced apart cloth-supporting shoulders on the front wall of said cloth containing compartment, a slidable release plate adapted to the temporary support of the rear edges of the lens cloths, a starter frame pivotally supported on the underside of said slidable detachment plate and formed with a tooth bar for engagement with the lowest lens cloth in the said containing compartment, and retractile spring means tending constantly to maintain the operative parts in normal relative positions, together with twin spring stripper fingers controlled by the said detachment plate, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.

3. Lens cloth dispensing apparatus of the character designated, comprising a cloth containing compartment, a slidable detach ment plate arranged in connection therewith and formed with a transverse delivery slot, spaced apart cloth-supporting shoulders on the front wall of said cloth containing compartment, a slidable release plate adapted to the temporary support of the rear edges of the lens cloths, a starter frame pivotally supported on the underside of said slidable detachment plate and formed With a tooth bar for engagement with the lowest lens cloth in the said containing compartment, and retractile spring means tending constantly to maintain the operative parts in normal relative positions, said slidable release plate being mounted on a suspender spring and shouldered for engagement with a stationary part and with the inner edge of said slidable detachment plate, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.

4-. Lens cloth dispensing apparatus of the character designated, comprising a cloth containing compartment, a slidable detachment plate arranged in connection therewith and formed with a transverse deliver slot, spaced apart cloth-supporting shoulders on the front wall of said cloth containing compartment, a slidable release plate adapted to the temporary support of the rear edges of the lens cloths, a starter frame pivotally supported on the underside of said slidahle detachment plate and formed with a tooth bar for engagement with the lowest lens cloth in the said containing compartment, and retractile spring means tending constantly to maintain the operative parts in normal relative positions, said starter frame being also formed for trip arm engagement with tripping means 011 a stationary part, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
